any tips that i can get for impressing in an interview would be mucho appreciated......

the question/statement i hate the most is "Tell me about yourself" ... as an interviewer, what exactly are they looking for as an answer here??

Well that is tough, best advice I can give is be sure to "fit in" and show them how you are like them and that you will belong. 3 women, man that is rough but for an appropriate fee I will come to Iowa and show them a good time the night before and make sure they are worn out. I can promise Iowa aint seen anything like Agent before! :SIB

the job's in IL, hon.... you wouldn't have to come all the way to IA ;) (the first interview seemed to go really good, and obviously well enough to get a 2nd. just don't know if the next 2 will be the same fun loving type people that the first gal was.)

she did tell me in the first interview that it was a very tight knit group that knows everything about what is going on in each others lives. so emphasizing on the fitting in/outgoing/friendly type probably wouldn't hurt at all. (and it sounds as if everyone there help others out a great deal on schedule swapping) that makes it all the more the job i WANT, and i want it NOW ;)

Well Mama, if I were doing the interview short skirt, high heels and a low cut top would get you the job but since I'm not just be yourself and be sincere. If it's meant to be it will happen. Good Luck

PS just wear your Bears jersey . But for God sake don't wear that Iowa hat. A nice Purdue hat should be the topper that will land you the job. Good Luck

hey mama,
i applied for a job that was pretty competitive and i definately was not qualified for it. so, i made a pathetic effort to get the job which actually worked. i sent a thank you note after the interview, brought a letter of recomendation to the interview, and called several times to let them know i was interested. just a thought.

fine, you would not belive the major SUCK UP thank you note i sent after the first interview....LOL (wasn't sure how appropriate it was to do it via e-mail, but did it that way. :( )

maybe that is what got me the 2nd interview, and i need to be more civilized this time :(

oh, and what i'm more worried about, is that they may call me overqualified for the job, and pass over for that.

hard to make people understand that it is BENEFITS that interest more than pay.

Annie: These are some questions I ask when hiring.

1) Tell me about yourself. (Looking to hear positive statements)

2) Why should we hire you? (Looking to hear how it would benefit MY company and not the applicant)

3) Give me an example of a time you broke the rules on a job. What happened and how was it resolved. (NOT wanting to hear someone who doesn't follow policies and procedures)

4) Name an instance when you disagreed with a manager. How was it handled?? (Trying to make sure that this person can follow direction)

5) I also ask for time worked at jobs. Name of company, job responsibilities, and starting/ending dates. (Why were there gaps BETWEEN jobs?)

6) What can I expect of you if you are hired? (want concise answers, agressiveness, excited, etc)

7) Can't remember them all, but I always close with: What is your greatest weakness?? (Mine is listening skills). If someone says I have none, interview over! Everyone has weaknesses such as organizational skills, work better alone, etc etc

Hope this may help!

GOOD LUCK WITH THE INTERVIEW!!!!!!

In this day and age, an email thank- you letter is entirely appropriate and my have actually gained you some points.

If you are getting a second interview, there is a good chance that the first interviewer has already recommended that you be hired. If that person is in attendance at your upcoming meeting, be sure to make sufficient eye contact with her.

Your best approach to the second interview is to appear confident that the job is yours for the taking but without projecting an air of arrogance. These people need to believe that you are the right person for the position as the decision they make has a direct reflection on them, should it fall under scrutiny from their boss. Make it easy for them to be able to say "Who wouldn't have hire this broad?" and you will have nailed it.

You have an advantage that if the interviewers in your next meeting are indeed a "tight knit group", knowing this in advance allows you to play to them as such and not have to "play the room".

Good luck Mama, I'm sure you will do fine. ;)

The only reason I ask this is to see if someone thinks they are God. Many answers have been received but most are truthful.

One guy answered,"I'm lazy!"" Bye Bye!!

tell them if they hire you, you all will win championships

if they don't hire you, you will still win championships

One thing that I looked for is quick answers to easy questions. Reason being is when you are aksed something you know about the first thing that comes to mind is the truth, it takes a second or two to make up a lie.

People who stumble and pause their way through answers either don't know the truth or are hiding the truth.

I'm no longer part of the interwiewing process but that sticks out as a big part of weather or not someone got in the door.

I do all the hiring and firing for my company, and a good conversational atitutude was so welcomed..but the last woman I "hired" for one of our courier positions came in and was really an easy lady to "deal with", so I was happy to have her there...the only problem was the pre-employment drug screen which I didnt think would be a problem as she was about 60 years old..

But apparently granny was a pot head..... so in closing:

1. TRY AND BE PERSONABLE and

2. LAY OFF THE PIPE !!

Every answer should be tied to your value proposition to the company and the bottom line. Head-count is one of the most expensive asset of any company, also a firm understanding of the business and the current state of the business. If the interview is going well then ask for the job, it's a timing thing but it's something I always wanted to hear from as an interviewer and I always ask for the job.
