Anyone think Sacto should have fouled Shaq when up by 2 with 10 sec left???

Although he shot pretty good today from the line, lets face it everytime he shoots a free throw now one knows whats going to happen. The worst thing than Sacto would have was a tie game with the last shot in regulation..........I think any road team would like to be in that position.

No, especially since he had made 6 straight free throws. Make LA earn the tie, but can't allow a 3pt shot. What cost them was Divac slapping the ball instead of trying to grab it after Shaq missed the putback attempt...even if he couldn't get total possession keep the ball inside the 3pt line and a tie and possibly get the ball with some time left on the clock...what he did was the absolute worst play possible.

Bud...Second guessing now is useless and as I sit here and see that shot over and over in my mind. Divac did the right thing swatting it away. Who knew Horry was standing alone ! F'IN ALONE on the 3 point line !

Hoops sorry to disagree with you... If no one was near that ball is unrecoverable and the game is over...I got news for you if that game goes to OT the Lakers definitely WIN...Oh thats right you had the Lakers so of course you wanted OT for the cover !

If we sit here and second guess I will go NUTS !

GL !

Among Libtards!!
that's the first thing I yelled at the T.V. when they decided to inbound to him.....I know he was good from the line today, but the %'s were in favor of him missing...especially when the pressure to make two for the tie was on. Good luck tomorrow!!:)

High Roller.....not really second guessing, just wondering if I would have been the coach I really thought about the move when the Lakers were in their timeout with 12 seconds left. If I were the coach I would have fouled not matter what because if Shaq or Kobe gets the ball you know they are going to the hoop so a 3 point play is a definite possibility because no way in hell are they going to call a charge in that situation. I just have seen to many times a team give up a three or a 3 point play in that situation. Also I dont really think for sure LA wins if it goes into overtime, remember Sacto-Dallas gm 4, Sacto goes into overtime without Webber, Peja and Christie and they win. Hoops I agree with mcity.....with Shaq hitting 6 in a row the %'s were against him hitting both.

Highroller- I couldn't care less about me having the Lakers and the effect of the outcome...the cover was out of the question, last thing on my mind. I'm talking objectively about a basketball play and what Divac did was a poor play that cost his team. Of course there were plenty of other instances that cost Sacramento, but this was the deciding play of the game.

It was not the right play.

"Who knew Horry was standing alone ! F'IN ALONE on the 3 point line !"

Ummm...let's see...the Lakers weren't running the triangle offense much and they weren't on the last possession..they were posting Shaq and dumping the ball to him early or having Kobe penetrate or run him off a screen and penetrate...basically the other three Lakers were all spotting at the three point line..so who knew Horry was standing at the three point line? Every player on the Kings and anyone watching the game.

I'm certainly not saying it was an 'easy' play for Divac..pressure situation and lots of banging underneath but I honestly thought he needed to try and grab the ball...it's not as if he is a 6'0 guard that needed to slap the ball away. The moment I saw him tap it out towards the 3pt line the two words that came out of my mouth were "oh shit".

Much more than a result of one wager I would like to see Sacramento win the series as I hate the Lakers.

I can see your point. I still dont think he had a shot at grabbing it with SHAQ in his face and the ref's not blowing the whistle. I think SHAQ would have grabbed it and thrown it down for the tie.

Hoops I respect you way too much to debate this lucky shot.

Thanks ! & GL

Lets knock MONDAY down !

I think knocking the ball away was the RIGHT play. First of all, he doesn't have a shot clock in his head and I would imagine he felt that he could probably run the clock out by slapping it out. Let's face it - the only way the shot could have counted in time was to have it work out exactly as it did. Had he tried to control the ball,he would have risked the stronger Shaq controlling the ball, putting it up and possibly getting fouled - making the bucket and getting the ft for the win. Knocking the ball out was the smart play. Everything just went the Lakers way on this one.

no....what the kings did was good...they made Kobe shoot an ugly shot...Vlade got in the face of Shaq on the put back and then he slapped the ball out...like he should. I figured just like him probably that the time would of ran out with Vlade slapping the ball away....buttt Horry was at that spot at the right time.

I really think the refs did a crappy job this game. They were very inconsistent with calls...and that halftime 3 pointer killed the Kings.

ur right jedi

ur right jedi

posted part of this elsewhere, but the kings handed LA 5 points at end of qtrs with terrible clock management ...

worst offense IMO was not putting ball in ibby's hands at end of game, I knew Vlade wouldnt make a pair--too much on his shoulders goin home, plus he's a 62% and had already exceeded that in game at 8/10

man, brutality of gambling rears its ugly head again
