I read they are coming out with their new release today, haven't ever used, and don't really have any problems with IE, but just wanted to get some opinions on it see if it's worth downloading.

Faster load times on pages. Smaller memory footprint. Faster startup time. Most people like tabbed browsing. Builtin popup blocker that far exceeds Google toolbar. It isn't IE so most of the exploits you hear about don't even work against firefox

I've only hear good things about Firefox Browser. However, I don't know too much about it. Is it okay if someone might be able to post a link where I could download it? I've heard that you don't pick up all of the spyware crap using it that you do when you use IE.

Thanks,

I downloaded Firefox this morning. So far, my review is a big thumbs down! My pages load much slower on this browser. Many sites (Bank of America, for example) doesn't even fully fit on the page. The left hand toolbar is all jacked up.

I'm not opposed to using a new browser, but no thanks if it is not going to be better.

Firefox

Ive been using Firefox for about a month now. I switched after a massive overhaul due to spyware. Some things are better and every now and then it wont work correctly with a web page.

Good alternative to IE.

I'm like cooler. I use both.
I can use it to watch a game (cbs sportsline) on one and be in a forum in the other.

I took the plunge and downloaded it, the pages do load faster, haven't figured out how that multiple pages in one browser thing works though.

I think items like Firefox are good for the industry because it keeps Microsoft on its toes. I am a huge Microsoft fan (and stockholder--not so huge), so I like it when they do get pressure to continue to maintain and grow their applications from outside sources.

Using Firefox is great, but graphics on a page seem to load much slower.

Firefox is much better than IE - Dr Strangelove pointed out the features - it also has pop up blocker which stops a lot of spyware - it is #1 and should be used. IE is extremly bad and I can't belive 98% use it here. Do yourself a favor and get Firefox!

That is the wroldwide standard for IE's use. They have a 97-98% browser market share.

IE is extremly bad

Is this because you have something against Microsoft, or is it really a BAD product? What specifically makes it bad?

I'm not against you saying Firefox is beter, but to say IE is an extremely bad product is asinine.

Can we say bandwagon?

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Well,
I must be in the minority?

I use Netscape almost excluxively. Since I switched about 3 mos ago, my computer has worked much better. I agree with DJ Tranks, I think IE is shit. And I say that because they dont take care of viruses soon enough, Im essentially done with IE.
Except that one of my businessess uses a software program that only works with IE :cursin:

Very user friendly

Interesting....I'm trying it now. Generally seems good, pages definitely load faster. However, I've found a few weird bugs/quirks...

1) I lost my address bar for about 20 minutes. I knew where it was (somehow it got dragged to the left of my quick links), but it wouldn't allow me to drag it back to where it was supposed to be. Somehow (not sure how) it got back where it was supposed to be. But while it was like that it was about 1/32 of an inch wide... impossible to type in.

2) A number of the sportsbooks and other pages I go to say that they are missing a plugin. When I click on "Click here to add missing plugin" the Plugin Manager pops up...and then it goes no further. Still haven't solved this problem yet. Without the plugin I can't view BetCRIS, among others. I thought maybe it was my firewall, but I disabled my firewall and it still wouldn't allow a download.

3) This is more of an oddity than anything, but curious if anyone else is seeing it. On the forum here, when you mouse over a topic you can read the first few words of the message, just like in IE (that's not the problem). But on certain topics it inserts the date "Aug 18 1994" in tiny little letters in amongst the rest of text. And it's always THAT date, no other. It doesn't happen on all topics, just some. Try mousing over the topics "...you messed up...now I got to spank you..." or "Need to get my screen to fit 1600*1200" and you can see it. On the "Confirmed Superbowl Party List" heading the date appears in between each name on the list. Just plain strange.

Anyone else experiencing these problems?
