His story is a bunch of BullsH!t. I think we all have played baseball at one time or another. When you pick a baseball bat it's just like a Bowling Ball, you know and feel the actual weight of the object. If Sammy picked up the wrong Bat he would have immediatly know that the Bat weighed less than his normal Bat. This Bat was chosen intentionally by Sammy!

Those cowards on ESPN Baseball Tonight are actually validating Sosa's story. Maybe because ESPN has a TV deal with MLB.

I have some questions for Sammy. Where did you get that Bat from? Who put the cork in the Bat?:bsflag

Sammy should be thrown out of Baseball for good.

Had this been Geronimo Gil from the Baltimore Orioles, or Jeff Davanon from the Anaheim Angels, their careers might be over.

But since this is one of the biggest names in baseball, and one of the biggest marketing tools for the MLB, I would expect this to blow over.

Especially with the help of those guys at Baseball Tonight. I couldn't believe that they all backed his phony story up. What did that one guy say? If he was actually guilty, he would have help on to the bat longer? Give me a break. How stupid would he have looked then if he ran back into the dugout with a bat in his hands and then went to hide it opposed to just dropping it.

What I found funny about this was how everyone was trying to down play what happened, from ESPN to the Umpires to Sosa himself. ESPN came out with a DID YOU KNOW that a corked bat only will have the ball hit travel an extra 4 feet (something along these lines), an umpire stated he had to do something since the evidence was right in front of everyone and Sosa - come on use a better excuse on that one.

Get to the truth fellas - how about a corked needle. Sosa and many other players are juiced out and it's amazing how MLB and the media loves to avoid the truth of why these guys are hitting monstrous home runs. Just ask Conseco ;-) These guys are only fooling themselves when they say they are all natural. The truth is steroids plays a factor in all major sports. We know it, but in the end no one will admit it to the media or to the fans. No player wants to damage their reputation or accomplishments in the games they play.

Personally I could give a crap if these guys are juicing up, but to think we are a bunch of idiots who will buy into anything they say and preach - please. How's Lyle Alzado doing?

In the past 2 years, we've heard more about players being on roids. Is it any coincidence that the power production of Sosa, Giambi, Bonds and Luis Gonzalez is way off what it was a couple years ago? I would bet all 4 of those guys were juicing, but due to public pressure they have since gone off the stuff. Not surprisingly, their power totals have gone down also.

One player that stands out in my mind is Juan Gonzalez from the Texas Rangers. He seems to have slimmed down considerably. From his days to pounding homers to now I see a big difference with this guy.

there's no doubt sosa intentionally cheated, as someone said, you can tell instantly by the weight of the bat whether or not it's been corked. does it help? sure, though not so much on homers. i think the numbers are about 1% in distance, so about four feet on a four hundred foot dinger is about right. however, corking bats is all about bat speed, which translates to more ball speed off the bat, which translates to more balls making it through the infield, thus more hits, not necessarily more dingers.

should sosa be banned from baseball? c'mon, who's ever been banned from baseball for corking a bat? isn't the usual penalty ten days? if so, that's what he should get - no more, no less. let's face it fellas, some of the greatest hitters in the history of baseball have used corked bats, going back to ty cobb. usually they turn to it when they're having trouble hitting. the bats are so fragile that no one wants to step out there all the time with a corked bat; what happened to sosa would happen to them all. since his return from the dl, sosa's batting average had been microscopic. i'm sure he felt he need a little help to find his stroke again. sure, punish him like anyone else - the story is obvious b/s - but talk about banishment is a little hyperbolic to say the least.

he used it, he got caught but he couldnt be using a corked bat on a regular basis so this has nothing to do with what he has acomplished in his carrer, so i and a lot of people still see him as one of baseball greatest.
