I didn't vote for Obama (or McCain for that matter), so I'm not a big fan of his. But some of you guys are making complete asses out of yourselves bitching about him. He hasn't even been in office for A MONTH and you guys are tearing him up as if he is responsible for the disaster he inherited.

This board has turned into a complete farce. Carry on Skulnik, Hedge, et al.

He isnt respp0nsible for the current disaster, though he is a party through his role in Congress and moreso support of TARP.

The real issue, whether it has been a month or not, is that the "stimulus" bill and this housing proposal and TARP 2 are outright disasters.

Correct -he hasn't been in in month yet but has already--has turned back clock on fighting terrorist--turned back gains made on welfare reform--and increased national debt twice of what in was in 08--including more than cost of both wars combined--and will have added more before his 1st 100 days is up on more give aways to auto industry--75 billion for mortages. Its not the lenth of time--its what he's done.

A point of interest--concerning rhetoric and reality.

The 3 largest drops (over 1000 points total) in market have come day following his election-day Geither came out with banking plans-and day O passed stimulus--can we see a pattern here on financial world take on his hope/change rhetoric?

Well done, Skulnik. Your "contributions" to this board are as impressive as ever. I find it funny that the biggest cry baby on the board would call someone else that.

Read your own posts and let me know who the whiner is. TIA.

No matter if it was another 4 years of Bush, or if it was McCain in office, they'd be ramming the same package down our throats....and I think you know it, Wayne.

As for the stock market reaction, see the title of this thread.

Bail outs are a joke.

I'm scared to death of the next 47 months.:scared If he has done this much in his first month. It appears Obama has no conception of economics and the potential effects down the road of these programs. Good bye capitalism, hello socialism.:sadwave:

He inherited a mess, so I don't know if he could do "better."

But there are two things that I don't like. I REALLY don't like how he ramrodded FOCA through his desk. There is no way in hell someone can convince me that it is right for our government to force me to pay for abortions.

His approach in trying to use fear to get the stimilus package voted through quickly without review (same tactic used by Bush and all other politicians, btw) shows that the change in the style of government is much more fairy tale than reality.

I don't bash Obama, but I'm not exactly liking his performance so far. The reason I don't bash him is that although it may be different if McCain would have won (remember that I didn't vote for him, either), "different" does not always translate to "better." We would still have a huge mess on our hands.

I do think the constant nit-picking of him is a complete waste of time.

I also think the constant defending his every move is equally a waste of time.

Good post Dawgball. The guy inherited this mess and he does have to act fast as more and more people are facing forecloser. If he is doing the right things I don't know. A lot of things I do not like. But I only feel that this will get much worse before it gets any better. If it gets any better.

100% agree that it is going to get worse before better. That is one of the main reasons why we don't need to rush things. Rushing to judgment will more than likely compound our problems as opposed to taking it on the chin while we make the right decisions (if we have the capability).

Obama has had months to think about this. I am not saying he is right but I do not feel it is a rush. Something has to be done to stop it and Gawd knows the banks are not helping. The longer we wait the worse it is going to be. Now, that is different than saying that he is doing the right things. But the financial team he has surrounded himself with must think it's the right thing.

"the bunker"
the problem is the course he`s on won`t be correctable once it takes hold....once we`re entrenched in socialism and a sort of soft fasciam, theres no turning back...

we`re on a path to ruining whatever work ethic is left in this country...once people get used to being on the government dole,we`ll end up just like europe...

theres really no time to sit back and watch our healthcare system socialized...the welfare system reinstated....OUR money given to strengthen and support left wing organizations like acorn...

telling us what cars to drive.....lightbulbs to use...what to cook with....scamming us on the global warming boondoggle(costing us billions)....refusing to let us procure our own resources...

just watch these staunch blue states like california sinking beneath the waves... yet they still refuse to utilize huge offshore oil and natural gas resources despite(in california`s case) being 44 BILLION in debt AND CAN`T EVEN AFFORD TO REFUND PEOPLE WHAT THEY OVERPAID IN TAXES.......

what`s their answer?...they`d rather tax their productive citizens into oblivion....and give it to the ever increasing population of n`er do wells(many of whom aren`t even citizens and are sapping reources).....

it`s insane... theres not a moment to lose...

that`s why we aren`t sitting on our hands while rome burns...
