FDC, what the heck are you talking about? You put so much crap in your essays I don't even know where to start. I'm not sure if you really read what I wrote or just assumed some things I wrote and meant.

Where did I say
"How can you say that subsidies are necessary for increased employment of the poorer classes and then turn around and bitch about unemployment rates and food stamp recipients?"

I never said that. I said subsidies are necessary to keep the prices of Ag down. That helps the lower end of pay people as well as food stamp and welfare recipients more than it helps me or you. If prices jumped up I would be ok and so would you but people that live on next to nothing wouldn't.

Saint,
Have you ever considered reading something other than the "Highlights" periodicals that I'm guessing get delivered to Saints Family Dental, life coaching, and palm reading salon?
You may actually learn something and ultimately quit contributing to a seriously demeaning stereotype regarding dentists.

Hope this helps,
FDC

If I can make a humble suggestion....

The IGNORE feature at Madjack's is a WONDERFUL device, I've used it exactly once since joining this site 10 years ago ... I find it helps maintain a healthy disposition when your dealing with certain personality types.

The middle class is being squeezed out of existence, the system is broken beyond repair, the political system has become a bloated charade, special interests have seen to that. I personally think we have passed the tipping point. There is no real easy way to reset the system without either war or major chaos on the home front whether it be economic or bloodshed.

I was responding to your first post more or less. I was also doing it on my phone and on my recliner after a rough day. I admit I tend to exacerbate a point when I feel a detailed account is needed to fully explain myself.

My exasperation was mostly with the comment that large corporations contribute to society by providing all the good paying jobs, therefore the subsidies are deserved. Yes I'm paraphrasing, but that's how I read it.

I'm all for the farmers though and I do appreciate many of your points.

I think the assumption that subsidies keep prices down is an erroneous assumption. I think the assumption that farmers aren't big corps isn't true. I also think that food stamps are part of the corporate subsidy, but at least the corps are actually providing something for their subsidies.

BBC, what are the subsidies for farmers for? I was under the impression it was so they were more stable and didn't have to worry about the up and down years of making their crops?

Maybe it's because of these stats. Can't keep going in this direction.

I just find it odd that the outcry about where the money goes started just a few years ago. where was this outrage let's say before 2008?
Doesn't matter where it was then.....it's just fortunate that it is here now. We should care, so agree or not with the vocal groups, I'm glad they're here

I hear ya, I guess I was trying to make a point without being too political. people turn a blind eye to it when their party is at the helm

It's for stability, but it's to make them control the supply so that they don't make too much so that there are price floors. They're paid to not plant on land. It takes all the corporate risk and shifts if to the government
