subject comes up from time to time and I answer the question honestly ...I tell people yes.

...the ultimate and final decisions concerning the day to day operations of our home[major purchases ....ie.. freezer..cars..additions on home.. tv..hot tubs etc] and social attendence[I don't go if I don't want to go] to functions are in my hands.

this is not say I don't ask my wife for feedback...what it does mean is that the ultimate decision is mine.

Interested to know who are the "ultimate decision makers" here at MJ's

Leadership is an art. Management is a science.
Leaders lead, managers manage.
Leaders create, managers refine.
Leaders inspire, managers improve.
Leaders direct, managers administer.
Leaders innovate, managers organize.

Pretty much the same as you. It usually comes down to buy it if you want it.

great thread.. Something I never really thought about...

Lucky for me I married someone ten times smarter than me and she makes a good living. (Bio Medical Engineer) We actually have separate bank accounts but share a savings account. So she kinda buys whatever she wants its her money. I do the same.

I have a buddy who signs his paychecks over to his wife and she controls all finances.. Poor bastard had to call his wife and ask her if he could buy himself a pair of dress shoes for work for god sakes.

I take care of most of the big bills like the mortgage, taxes, HOA dues and insurance. She usually pays the utilities and her car. We have never really talked about anything it just gets done.

We split daycare. 1700 a month!:sadwave:

When it comes to buying the big stuff like TVs and furniture we talk about it first but im always the one breaking out the checkbook.

As the former president of my 6th grade class I feel that I am more than qualified to call the shots of day to day life.

Real answer: Yes but with plenty of compromise. That's how you get to 30+ years of living together happily.

That's a long response when "she is" would have sufficed
