Hawkeyes heading west to play a late game at Arizona. Arizona beat up on some scrubs and offense has good stats. Hawkeyes have played a little better competition, and again the defense looks in mid season form. In the past i would stay away from a Iowa team heading west. I remember the Arizona St. game a few years back. Normally i would say the home team has a huge edge with the late game. Iowa actually will benefit from the late game, tempature speaking, as it will be cooler at night. This will not be a factor. Last year iowa gave them a 7point head start with a stanzi pick 6. He has been solid so far and he will be the factor on how far Iowa goes this year. Both offenses are a push. Iowa's young offensive line is developing ahead of schedule and the speed is equal as Iowa proved last year. The defense is the big diference and i believe it will determine Iowa winning the game as i think they have the best defensive line in college football. Foles for Arizona is o.k. but he will be harrassed like he never has before as Klug and Clayborn will make him move out of the pocket. It is in Iowa's favor that foles is not a runner. I think it will be a conservative approach for both teams to start as Iowa and Arizona will mix the run and pass equal. Special teams favor Arizona, as it's been Iowa's only weekness in two games. Again Iowa will be pressuring Foles and wether or not he forces the ball and or if he takes some sacks, because IOWA WILL GET TO HIM and that will determine wether Iowa wins by ten, or they win by three. I believe Iowa goes to the desert and the defense will shine and the offense will do just enough to come home 3-0. I look for SASH to have a big game for the Haweyes. 24-17 IOWA +1:facepalm:

Defense

Defense

Great coach, and more speed than people think. Running the ball against a Arizona team with only four starters back. Last year Iowa really controlled the game. Grigsby had one nice run of 57 yards, and the qb has one 27 yard pass. Other than the pick six Stanzi had in the first quarter, Iowa handled them rather easy for all the hype Arizona had when they came to town. Arnaud the qb for Iowa state gives a lot of teams trouble, including a game last year against a tough Husker defense. He is mobile, runs good and IOWA took him totally out of his game. I look for the same this week. Yes Arizona has good recievers, but like last year, you have to have time for them to seperate. I don"t think he will have the time to lead his team on long drives. Iowa has covered the last six games on the road. Defense will always give your team a chance. good luck ARROW

Great write up!! I see Arizona favored now in some places...-1!! I'm liking Iowa myself, but the line movement is concerning.

See the game just like this, Arrow. Our Hawkeyes will come home with a victory. The Q.C. Times had a nice write-up about the quality offensive line play so far this season--led by the coach's son James Ferentz--who has played so far like a 3 year starter. Clayborn is off to a so-so start but he has been double teamed. If Klug can get to the QB a few times early while Clayborn is being held--er, being double teamed and force the Wildcats into man coverage then the defense will have a field day.
Played Iowa @ -1 on Sunday and love the line movement--fading line movements is usually profitable. Also leaned to the under 44 when it opened and now liking the under 45.5 a lot.
May only play Iowa State and Iowa side and total today--no worse than 2-1 there...:0074

GO HAWKS!

GO HAWKS!

Nice post Red. tho James struggled week one, he simply was not good against EIU. He came back and played great against ISU. The most pleasant surprise has been Nolan MacMillian and Marcus Zusevics...they have been outstanding on the right side of the line. Nolan would not even be starting if Gettis has not gotten hurt and now he may not give the spot back.

The difference today will be the the front 4 like everyone knows....Foles is not mobile and will get killed if the front 4 get pressure. Secondly the ability of the Iowa lbs to cover, specifically Tyler Nielsen is big. Prater and Hyde will cover 1/1 as well and it will result in Sash having a big day.

I love how everyone is focused on the AZ WRs....after the game it will be the IOWA WRs people are takin about. DJK and McNutt are darn good and watch out for a guy like Keenan Davis busting a big play today.

Iowa wins this game and wins it handily. GO HAWKS!!!
