Gen Lennox, the commander of the USMA at the Point announced the Black Nites were leaving Conf USA after the 2004 season.
Thank god.Army was an independent from the beginning of time to 1997.Then they joined a conf and got their butts waxed for the next 7 or 8 yrs.
Sutton who I liked as a coach won 20 games in 5yrs.Not great but considering who they played not too bad.Berry who is a "fool" has won 5 games in 3 yrs. With a "spread-passing attack"he has yet to understand that offense does not work on the banks of the Hudson.
Out AD at the Point,Greenspan who fired almost every coach at the Point is still standing by his boy Berry and his offense.
But "payback" is a bitch and Green and Berry will be moving on shortly.
A panel has been assembled to make recommendations to help the football team.Included in the recommendations are hiring a sleep therapist,a nutritionist, cutting back on Beast week and physical excerises, etc.
The sleep therapist should have only 2 patients.Their AD and coach. And he should start out his theraputic session with "good nite fellas, don't let the door hit you on your way out.
And a food nutritionist.I worked for 5 yrs Armys basketball and baseball summer camp.We eat in the mess hall with the cadets.I gained 5 pounds every freak'in summer eating that food.My wife was never upset about me leaving for a few weeks in the summer. She was worried about me and my weight.
I still gained even though we worked our butts off from 6.00am till 11.00pm.
I always remember thur's nite was steak nite.It was rib eyes or "T"bones.Sundays nite was "Fried shrimp nite".Huge jumbos. And the little bastards at my table would make P&J sandwichs because they didn't like shrimp.I'd say pass that bowl down ,please.Maybe that was my problem.
But the cadets do eat well. Our tax dollars go to good use when it comes to food at the Point.
And their menu has nothing to do with losing football games. The soccer team and lacrosse team eat the same food and win.
But it is a good move getting away from the Cinn's,Louisvilles,Memphis's,etc.Army needs to go independent. Now they can schedule a few more smaller schools. This yr I think they have no home games in the month of Oct.Oct. in the Hudson Valley is beautiful with the changing of the leaves.
So what if Army is down 35-0 at the half. The sun reflecting on the orange leaves is spectacular.Michie Stad sits on the side of a mountain,in front of a lake, and a stone throws from the mighty Hudson.I think its equal to any Penn St,Notre Dame,or Michigan home game.
And not one of those schools has one back,3 Wr's spread out offense, and a Qb that has no arm strength.
Well enough said.
Armys top Qb Nevels quit the team. But Army brass convinced him to come back.Berry said in spring practice he is our No.4 Qb on the depth chart since he quit.
After the 1st day of spring drills Nevels was No 1 again. The other 3 Qbs,didn't sleep well, didn't eat right, were to tired from other drills and made appointments with the new Army therapist.
And life goes on ........on the Hudson
