Temple -16,-16.5 and -17 over army *****
Line has jumped due to Bradshaw quitting the team and then coming back...more later on that....spent the whole summer following this game...will try to condense this as much as I can...
Army is hurting....they won 2 games lyr even though they played some tough games...the Navy loss was devastating because they had them beat and outplayed them...you would think that would carry them on to this year...but it won't...in July it was announced that their best overall player Kempers had a honor code violation and was kicked off the team{ although it was never said what he did I know it was a cell phone he used on a test in June}...I do get some inside info....he was their B-back or full back...big loss..then before that Jenkins their best def player announced he wasn't going to play....then just last week Bradshaw their starting qb quit the team...and the backup Carter who almost beat Navy has been out all spring and summer with injuries...there are 4 freshman Qb's backing him...but after 2 days Bradshaw came back and played friday nite in their last scrimmage...to much drama.... Offense...Bradshaw is good but cannot pitch the ball in option. he has so many mental errors...his big plays are the ones he scrambles on when things breakdown...he is very athletic and an avg passer...WR they have 6'5 Poe who they just throw up 'jump balls" too....OL is a problem...have a few back but no depth at all...Monken has moved more guys into different positions on the OL...they have no size but really don't need it in option...
Running game is a problem..w/o Jenkins its by committee...they have no fullback and don't have a lot of speed outside...thats what they have been doing the whole summer..trying to find some halfbacks.. they have moved some db's and LB's to halfbacks...
Defense has about 5 or 6 seniors back....DL gets no pass rush but is pretty good vs. the run..DB's are solid vs. run but have problems covering...new kickers and punters.. Monken worried about special teams...
Temple is loaded...Ruhle is in his 4th year has changed the culture...last yr they won 10 games and could win conf vs Houston or USF...Temple football will dominate this year in conf..they have one of the top rb's in the country in Thomas.. He had 1,200 yds and has some great moves...Walker their Qb is a dual threat..he can throw and run...Army has had problems with dual qb's since Benedict Arnold was commander of the Point.. Temple has solid wr's and TE's and they are all 6'3 and 6'4...this offense will cause major problems..Army will try to stop the run..and temple has enough talent to attack in the air..plus Rhule's biggest change on offense is he will be throwing to his backs...on defense temple is big, strong and athletic...DL is quick and LB's are experienced ..they lost Matevich one of the best linebackers in the country but their are many waiting to take his place...DB's are solid....great sp teams with everyone back from lyr...
Since Ruhle got there 3 years ago...his 1st year he lost to Notre dame on opening day..28-6 but was a +29 dog....2 yrs ago he was a +13 dog vs Vandy and beat them 37-7...lyr he was +6 dog vs Penn St and he beat them 27-10....last week in practice he was so upset with his 1st team offense he kicked them all out..later he said "that weren't focused enough"...
Think the Owls beat the Nites by at least 3 td's and maybe more...Temple will be focused...
Back later with Smoo-North Texas,Texas Notre Dame, and a few more....
