Not that is was inside news but w/o a doubt the threat of 5 returning classes protesting homecoming this Sat caused Gen Lennox to fire Todd Berry today.Rumor was they were going to let him finish the season but imagine 5 graduating cadets classes not entering Michie Stad..
No way Army brass needs that press.
He was fired today and deserves it.He bad mouthed Sutton for 4 yrs.He made the most lame excuses for losing. His 1st yr there he had 4 solid running backs and changes his offense to 1 back and 4 Wr's.
He was way over his head from day 1.Greenspan hopefully is next. That bastard bought in Berry, fired Sutton and also bad mouthed Sutton.
I'm not making Sutton a hero but he was all "class".Greenspan fired almost every coach in athletics.Three were close personal friends.Berry fired 2 friends of mine that worked for the football department. These guys worked there under Young way before Sutton. They never did anything wrong.Loyal, hard working, etc.
What a shame...
But tonite its a little payback.
Army is +6 vs ECU.Just maybe they respond. How long does it take to learn the wishbone? trouble in Army has no RB's.

Army Terminates Contract Of Football Coach Todd Berry
Academy Officials Install John Mumford as Interim Head Coach
Oct. 13, 2003
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Lt. Gen. William J. Lennox Jr., superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy, announced the contract of head football coach Todd Berry was terminated today. Specific conditions were not released.
Lennox said his decision was based on the team's lack of progress. "The Corps of Cadets and the fans of Army football deserve a competitive program that is representative of this great institution," said Lennox.
The Army team is winless in six starts this year with Berry's record as head coach at 5-35. Berry assumed head coaching duties at Army in December 1999.
"We will work diligently in the weeks ahead to identify the next person to lead our football program," stated Lennox. "The search will be handled professionally and confidentially, respecting the sensitivities of those candidates that are currently 'in-season' with professional and collegiate organizations."
John Mumford will immediately assume head coaching duties on an interim basis. Mumford has served as the defensive line coach for Army the past four seasons and served as head coach at Southeast Missouri State from 1990-1999. Lennox said, "With seven games remaining on our schedule, John Mumford will provide our program with leadership as we continue the season. He possesses a wealth of head coaching experience and his knowledge of the offense and defense will be helpful."
The Army team was informed of the coaching change at a team meeting this afternoon.
