So very sorry to hear that. I've had some minor issues w them. UTI and limping from Angel. Jasper has had a couple stomach bugs but so far nothing major (knock on wood). I've told myself many times, what have I gotten myself into? I love them so much and can't imagine life w/o them. Jasper greets me every single time I walk in the door. I tell them goodnight and within a few minutes of me getting into bed, Angel jumps up and crawls over me. Jasper comes up at least once during the night and gets on my chest and makes biscuits.

So sorry for your losses. I've told myself that if I can just get them to 10 years of age that will be good and after that is House Money so to speak. Obviously I'm hoping for 20.
Cats are notoriously dehydrated. Give wet food only and once in a while tuna w/ water ( mashed up). Also, cook some Tilapia filets in an inch of water, they should love it. Chicken or Beef baby food too. They need the water.

We have a 19-year old, an 18-year old, and a 17-year old. Two of whom were rescued as feral kittens. And the 19-year old was rescued from a shitty situation where she was kept in a cage in a garage. She basically has a permanent runny nose. They think it's a disease that's common in rabbits but very rare in cats (there were also rabbits in that garage). Other than that, she's still pretty spry. Just stay out of her way when she sneezes.

Mine can't figure out how to use a water bowl but luckily I got a fountain early on. I give them wet food and broth but they have access to kibble all the time. I know it's not the best but they like it. They also love the bath tub. They'll get ready to jump in and I turn the water on, then off, then they jump in and lap up the water. I'm constantly drying the edge of it to make sure they don't slip and I keep it closed at night and when I'm not there. Angel must get in every morning around 6am no matter what!

With the water bowl, they just splash it around and try to get under the bowl, then they'll end up flipping it over. Also w the wet food, a lot of times they just lick the gravy but I've always been glad that they are getting at least a little liquid when they do it.

They're spoiled rotten and very needy but they adore me and I love them just as much!

Yeah, ours have 24/7 access to dry food. And twice a day we give them wet food. Two of them beg every night for their dinner. They get it around 5 - 6. But any time I go in the kitchen after 3:00, they start begging. Which reminds me... I'm late!

in my younger years i was a dog guy, never had any cats. when my mon died, i inherited her cat "frazier." frazier only responded to my mom; whenever anyone came to her home, frazier would run under her bed and stay there until they left. after my mom died, i was hard pressed to decide what to do with frazier, as i was in one of my many single phases, living with two other single guys in a 5000 sq ft house on the river that was known as the biggest party house in town. so i took frazier home and closed in the breezeway between the house and the garage and set him up there. After a few days, i realized that situation couldn't last, so one day, on my way out to work in the morning, i took frazier out to the front porch, put him down and said, "frazier, i hope youre here when i get back, but youre not, i understand." when i got home, frazier was waiting for me on the front steps. He lived another 10 years with me after that. when i remarried, my stepdaughter had a dalmatian, which are cat killers, so he lived out his senior years as my office cat until he died at the ripe old age of 18.
