Prairie du Chien, Wis. a small town of 5400 pop. I was a business owner and baseball coach there for 7 years. Fun area on the Mississippi river.

I was a scout in that area back in 87-88, saw Bob Wickman at UW-River Falls I believe. There is a place outside of LaCrosse on the hill top, also had great fish buffett, wing, ribs, etc., great home style cookin and fillin.

Saw Joe Randa when he was at Kettle Moraine HS, near West Bend that year too, he went undrafted cuz of a cycle accident, then ended up an All-Star and played a few seasons in the ML!!

Fondu Lac, Tomah, all nice and relaxing areas. Madison was ok, then they just had to drop baseball those muther shuckers!! But UW-Oshkosh developed some good ones, Jarrod Washburn, but anyways!!

Thanks again Arrow!!

For being a D-3 conference in the north, the WIAC has produced a few decent players. Did you ever scout UW-Stout? That's where I played (basketball, not baseball). They had a decent baseball program. Oshkosh was always strong. Jordan Zimmermann came out of UW-Stevens Point. Stout produced Joe Vavra, (a friend of mine) and former Dodger player and minor league coach, now an assistant coach for the Twins. Stout's head coach is now Toby Gardenhire, Ron Gardenhire's son. Weather looks like it is going to be an issue up here again this year for the teams.

Saw Stout a few times, had a few of my former JUCO players transfer to them in the early 80's. Wickman BTW went to UW-Whitewater, he pitched against River Falls!! So my bad!!

I remember Vavra, played in Twins org I think.

Snowbird weather. All teams from up north coming down south and not any nicer here, except no snow, LOL!!

I'll be in Orlando March 14-19 and scout a few tourneys there while on a conference trip for my business.

Good stuff Big Daddy. I miss that area of the country!!

I tried fishing on the Mississippi just outside Lacrosse, Twin City area near a rest area stop, caught a 11 lb wally but had to release it, it was an egg spawning female...

Miss that area! I will return though on a fishing trip, may go to Ontario to fish with tv talking head, great fisherman, Babe Winkleman. He's a riot away from tv!!

we may know some of the same people from my coaching and playing days of baseball.

do you know steve hauser the AD at MATC in Madison. He was my center fielder in high school from Charles city Iowa, and do you know Keven Twait from Iowa Central, a school I played for and Kevin is the head football coach and AD there in Fort Dodge. Twait was a teammate of mine as I played at Iowa Central, terrific baseball school.

Lord, that's a long time ago I was in Madison, only saw Maddy Tech play when they had this big kid that could hit the long ball but every time someone threw him a curveball he crapped his pants and was drafted once as a pitcher but never ended up playing anywhere after that. I don't know Keven either, sorry. The guy(s) I knew at Iowa Central was Rick Sandquist. Maddy Tech was a real old guy he passed away in late 1990's, can remember his name off the top of my head.

Brings back memories though!! Rick Tiedeman was the guy at Oshkosh I remember. Steve Land was at Wisconsin U, Jim Bailey head baseball coach at Lacross Aquinas HS. Terry Ryan I know pretty well, GM with Twins, he hails from Janesville.
