this game would come down to 2 words:

Bill Cowher

When it matter his teams dont show, dont look prepared, make bad decisions, and coaches make it even worse.

I don't think you can put the blame on Cowher. If not for mistakes by QB, who knows what this game would be. Can't really fault Cowher for leaving him in since he has won 14 straight starts. We have seen the wheels coming off the Steeler QB in the last few games. Would you prefer that Cowher bring in Maddox?

It just seems to me........and I may be wrong.........but Cowhers teams seem to play "tight" in big games....

Reminds me of my old HS Hoops coach, we seemed to always have the better talent but in big games we always played "not to lose" instead of playing a little more relaxed.........

"the bunker"
i think when you consider the brady/roethlisberger...belichik/cowher match-ups it`s hard not to understand what`s happening....

this, coming from a guy that deluded himself into believing that the steelers had a real shot....

i think sun tzu has a point....

i think i`ll go to confession next sunday and confess.......i haven`t been in over a decade...it has to be a sin to be this stupid....

:mj01: :mj08: :mj12:

i have enjoyed using these new smiley`s,though....

Well, if your theory holds, Pittsburgh must have the greatest collection of talent in the history of pro football. If Cowher and his staff are such morons, how do you explain the Steelers' record this year? How does a team almost go undefeated with a coaching staff that wouldn't stand up at your local high school? As in every other sport, the coach gets too much credit for wins or losses. Well, maybe Martz is the exception. I really don't know how he still has a job.

As for "no answers defensively", wasn't Pitt ranked either 1st or 2nd this season defensively in the entire NFL? What happened between the end of the season and now - did the players forget what to do? Did Cowher just show up with a lame game plan?

It is pretty easy to criticize anybody that is down big in the first half. I don't think Pitt or Cowher are that bad. But since you are apparently somewhat of the "answer man" in this area, what would you have done if you were the Falcons' Mora today? Did he also do a putrid coaching job? Or was Philly just a better team?

Cower might not have much choice but to run, run, run with Ben at QB. You see what happens when he throws it, even if the receiver is open.
The gameplan is basically already set.

Uhh its the same thing Cowher does every year he has talent. A real easy trivia question: what coach has lost the most home games in NFL playoff history? So the answer is yes - something happens to Cowher. Like Mack Brown the second Saturday in October every year.

Sun, I'm with ya,,,but, I'd say "a couple of good throws...".
If Ben throws good, it changes this whole team. Why is he looking so bad?

you can't argue with cowher's post season record.....

not counting this game, i think cowher is 0-4 in home championship games....

pitts. is making stupid mistakes & that is a reflection of the coaches.....

cowher is a disciple of shottenheimer....it shows....

some coiaches just choke during the big game, whether not preparing the team properly, not using the clock correctly, or not calling the correct plays.

I guess he suddenly got smart - if only for one quarter. You guys are making way too much out of the coaching factor here. The biggest coaching factor is that BB will outcoach anybody he faces in this league.

Once again goes to conservative. Now lead is stil 14 but another 6 minutes off the clock. Does anyone but Phil Simms think kicking the fg down 2 tds against a team like NE with 13 minutes to go is a smart move?

utterly ridiculous.....the 3 meant nothing....if you don`t get the t.d.,you have them pinned.....

now,a decent k.o. return...and n.e. kicks the f.g....

back to square one....

now big ben(farting sound) throws another pick....

if assante samuel could catch, that would be 5 picks today....
