2nd day in a row mismanaging the bullpen almost kills the A's but they get away with it. Absolutely ridiculous to bring in Witasick in that situation. Middle of the order up, you don't bring in a guy with an ERA of 7. This inning was as important as the ninth, if not more.

If they don't get Huff in from 2nd it's ballgame. Next inning is the bottom of the order so they won't score and they won't put up 2 against Street. Payton not moving the runner over will kill them...

If they dont get Huff in it is not going to be easy, but they will lead off the bottom of the 8th with the #9 hitter, then Roberts 2nd to begin the top of the order again.

You're right, I was looking at the lineup wrong. I thought it was 7,8 and 9. They need to pinch hit for Castillo for sure. He's an automatic out like Patterson. If they're going to do it I think they have to at least get 1 in the 8th. Odds of getting 2 off of Street are astronomical. If they lose this game you can look back to the 7th when they couldn't get Huff in from 2nd with nobody out.

If they lose im looking back to the error in the 1st and the Roberts brain fart :mj07:

They need him in center....I think they pinch hit for the catcher Castillo in the bottom of the 8th....they have Jay Gibbons on the bench

Agreed. But they can't pitch hit both? Gibbons can play outfield and why not have the 3rd string/emergency catcher come in for Castillo? I really think that was the biggest at-bat of the game and Patterson is one of the last guys you want up there.

Castillo is the 3rd C, which is good because they can pinch hit for him and put Bako in to catch whos the normal 2nd string C

Oh my bad. You're right. I totallly forgot that Bako was getting the day off because he caught last night. Now I REALLY don't understand why they didn't pinch-hit for Patterson?

I lost all 3 of my bets yesterday. And I'll be the first to admit that the main reason I've been doing o.k. so far this year is because I'm getting a TON of breaks. I didn't change a thing in my capping style from last year, and last year I got absolutely killed. Bullpens still suck, hitters still can't bring men in from 3rd with less than 2 outs, managers still make idiotic decisions, etc. The only thing that's changed is so far I've been able to dodge most of the bullets. It doesn't matter how much research/number crunching you do, there is A TON of luck involved in sports betting. A lot of people don't like to admit it, but it's true. You bet on the games that you think are the most favorable situations, but ultimately it comes down to the players on the field.

Good luck...
