ATHLETICS/RANGERS Over 9.5 -105 ? The Rangers have taken the first two games of this series, reaching double digits in runs in each contest. In fact, the last 5 head-to-head meetings between these teams have sailed over the total, with an average total score of 12.6 runs per game. Also, the teams combined to use 8 relief pitchers in yesterday?s game, and Oakland?s closer Billy Koch worked 1.1 innings while throwing 33 pitches, making his availability tonight questionable. Granted, Zito is 14-3 with a 3.04 ERA, and Valdes has a respectable 3.74 ERA despite his 5-7 record. However, neither of these pitchers has a Complete Game this season, so these tired and lately ineffective bullpens will almost certainly be brought into play.

good luck Eugene. Though the availability of Koch is good for the OVER as the joker can never hold a lead. Good point about the bull pen though.

Valdes is injured, tendonitis in da knee I believe, and was questionable for even making this start. I think the Rangers are sending him out there to shop him (there is no reason for him to be making this start otherwise), and that he won't go more than 6 inns because of pain. Getting to that weak-tit ranger bullpen should be the tonic for the A's and the over....
