Astros rookie Carlos Hernandez, 22, hopes to correct a glitch in his mechanics today when he faces the Rangers. He has allowed five walks in each of his last three starts.
"In my last bullpen (Wednesday), I was trying to keep the ball down," Hernandez (5-2, 3.87 ERA) said. "That's been my problem. I'm trying to throw the ball down and hit the corners.
"Sometimes I'm opening up my right shoulder a bit too quickly. I drop my shoulder too early, and that's what I need to fix with my mechanics."
