i am coming off a losing weekend.....was doing well up to that point......so threre`s the disclaimer:rolleyes: :D ....caught absolutely no breaks this weekend...

picked this up from another forum...makes sense to me...

i`m looking at asu-5 against north carolina....i know it`s a road game....but,carolina has no defense....they were life and death to beat and cover the low number vs a very bad east carolina team last week....

last year north carolina went up to az st and won a very strange shoot-out vs the sun devils......a little pay back?...

but more than that, isn`t az st just a better all around club?.....coming off a good effort last week.....

bgold?......pt1gard?........gimme some feedback on this one.....

gw - I touched on this game briefly in my thread. I really like ASU. Their D has been solid for them all year just that the offense has stunk it up and not able to get on track. Now that they had this breakout game they can hopefully sustain it and be balanced on both sides of the ball.

saint could give us some UNC info for sure. GL

hey gw

hey gw

had circled this hoping fg or less, I mean what had ASU done on rd cept get annihilated, granted they played iowa and beavs but those efforts were scary putrid ... maybe revenge is motive and asu has played 3 of last 4 halfs very well now--if asu goes to a bowl this is a must win i suppose ... I might play this but like Cal more ... NC i know is awful on D, and maybe koettner will have them airing it out, hows NCs secondary? thats biggest concern if you bet this IMO

Being a student at ASU, I can tell you the Sun-Devils are going to be ready for this game.

What we expected all season finally showed up last weekend against Oregon. They played the worst I have seen them play with the talent they have the past 3 weeks. The USC game was OK, but the Oregon State and Iowa games were downright pitiful.

First off, UNC is like 0-10 ATS their last 10 at home. That is unreal in inself. I wouldn't bet on N.C. for that reason. Bet with a streak, never against it.

ASU is getting it going. They have played well 7 out of their last 8 quarters, with the only debacle coming in that 4th quarter against SC. I talked to Walter on campus and he said Friday that the team is finally hitting it's stride.
ASU actually has a running game now, for the first time in Koetter's tutaledge. Hill and Wade have both been very effective running the ball, which should open up the pass. It SHOULD of, but Walter has been struggling, and he knows that. He finally got into some rythmn last week for the first time all year. He lost his confidence after the Iowa game, and didn't get it back until the SC game, where he played OK. Last week was his coming back party.

Finally, ASU has big time revenge on it's minds from last years debacle at Sun Devil. That game was one of the worst games I have ever seen in person, both from a fan's perspective and referee's perspective. Barth missed 5, yes 5, field goals. 15 points right there. We also fumbled on the goalline rusulting in a touchback, and dropped a wide open touchdown pass in the endzone. ASU outgained them by about 200 yards I believe, but couldn't put the points up on the board. Our defense was out on the field way to long and Durant played well. That game is still fresh on the minds of the Devil's and they are going to be ready to play come Saturday.

i think this should be a 10 point line, ASU as Marra said is playing well and I cant imagine them not putting up 35 points again.. consider they had 5 turnovers and 4 misssed field goals vs unc last year and still scored 35.. asu must hold off unc stud kick returner and speedy qb but should have no problem covering on the road finally

ASU suspensions are nothing relevant to this team, one was nick johnson (suspended for the oregon game last weektoo) who started at de and lost his job anyways, barton hammit a linebacker doesnt impact asu that much they play a 4-2-5 defense that measn only 2 lb's play and justin burks and jamar williams are studs... hammit suspension should not matter at all

When I first saw the line, I was thinking it might be a spot where ASU might not really be up due to it being a non-conf. game in the middle of the season. But the bowl angle is big. A team like this cannot afford to come out flat against a bad team when it could come down to being a big factor in the bowl games. I like ASU.

I really don't have any notion on this game and have avoided UNC games because they're so bad...but curious what you think about these two -- Clemson/NCSU and Duke/Wake.

I really like Clemson at first glance, think they pull a win out here, and Duke may be a solid play too. Thoughts from a fellow ACC guy?

Good call

Good call

I jumped on this game myself. I follow mostly C-USA and the SEC and East Carolina is really struggling this year. With that being said I bet on UNC last week for my favorite pick for the week. UNC covered but barely, a touchdown with 3 minutes to go in the game allowed them to cover.

I think ASU is clearly the better team and even though it is a an away non-conference game I think ASU wins this one fairly easily.

I have already taken ASU - 5 and might lay a little more later if more games don't jump out at me.

good luck

don`t feel bad....i got bent over (no,nothing to do with kobie)pretty painfully myself this weekend......it really hurts to lose on oddball plays and turnovers....but,that`s why they call it gambling.....

as far as clemson,i pulled an ar182 and bought the sucker all the way up to 7....i see what you saw....the clemson passing game is very dangerous....what worries me is that t.a. mcclendon should be back this week for state....but,state`s defense is absolutely horrible..and clemson`s is fairly decent..i believe nc st spanked the poop outta clemson in one of these night games last year at clemson.......maybe a little payback.....

the acc is shaping up a little differently than i expected....maryland just isn`t as good as the team that finished strong last year....the running game isn`t as dominant(gary downs had a very good, quiet year at running back...they miss him a little)....and with suter not 100%,their receivers are very overrated....

wake started strong but i think they got caught by an improving ga tech last week...i`m not so sure that they don`t spank duke this week....i think there`s a possibility that they hammer the blue devils this week..maryland was up 27-0 before letting up last week.....but i don`t think i`ll be wagering on it...

va-fla st is one of those games that you want to wager on....i want to look at virginia as this line seems to be rising slowly.... but fla st `s mental is hard to gauge....do they take out their miami frustrations on uva....or are they totally crushed and is uva worth a look?... fla st has owned virginia.....that makes it hard to fool with....somebody said always play with the trend, not against it....

i really believe that joining the acc has systematically softened the fla st program....they used to face tough foes from all over as independents....now they are locked into a schedule playing in a lesser bcs conference and i think it`s hurting them....kinda like a boxer being built up on soft touches and then getting thrown in with the real thing....it`s usually disastrous....

i`m gonna look at that b.c. game....i saw 3*in your thread....you got my attention....

g.l.,buddy...

What's up guys. All of my plays this year on the Heels I knew the instant the side came out the right play. This week, that is not the case. My first thought is that ASU covers no problem, but I'm not so sure about that anymore. Both teams have put up similar numbers on offense, and although UNC's D is bad, if i remember correctly ASU's defense lets up 400+ yards as well. I'm gonna keep digesting this one and will have a play on it by the end of the week. I'm 5-1 on UNC games this year, my 1 loss by 1 pt to Syracuse in triple OT (still bitter :) )

Just FYI, ASU lets up 373 yds on D. I think the over might be a good play, but I think the books pegged it well. I thought it would be around 58 and that's exactly what it is. These two teams may put up 70 IMO. Both teams predominantly air it out. My only hesitation is that Bunting is insistent on developing a running game, and we had some luck against a crappy ECU D line so they may try to push the issue against ASU.

ASU defense is a lot better than they get credit for, they got there best coverage guy back last weeek and the d really is looking good, i honeslty think the asu d is the strength of this team. ASU has faced much better offenses than UNC this year, in USC,Oregon,Iowa,Oregon St.. just a heads up.. this game should go under
