Arizona State coach Herb Sendek said Tuesday that he doesn?t expect to have junior guard Trent Lockett for Thursday?s Pac-12 game at Colorado, and probably Saturday?s game at Utah as well.
Lockett sprained his right ankle (above) with 10 minutes to go in last Saturday?s win over Oregon State. He left Wells Fargo Arena on crutches.
?Obviously, that?s a significant loss for our team,? Sendek said. ?No one player can make up for his absence. We?re going to have to do it collectively. As you know, Trent is leading us in points (13.9 ppg), steals (26), (second in) rebounds (6.4 rpg)? and shooting over 60 percent the last four games.?

In the wake of Keala King?s suspension and dismissal, Lockett has played point guard the last four games. During that span, which has produced two wins, Sendek has praised the junior?s leadership, saying he has emerged as the voice of the team.
Junior Chris Colvin will replace Lockett in the starting lineup, but Lockett still will go on the trip.
?Even yesterday in practice, while he?s wearing a boot and on crutches he was bouncing around and offering his support, encouragement and teaching to the players,? Sendek said. ?It was like having another coach at practice. We expect him to give us the best leadership possible, even if he?s not playing.?
