well this ought to cause a ton of debate........but here are my athletes that I just can't believe get paid.......sometimes I think I might be a better job :p

ok.....first my over-rated guy:

1) Emmit Smith.....not only is this guy selfish, but could you imagine if Barry Sanders had his offensive line (Cowboys in their prime), or any other running back for that matter........I mean this guy is good but no where NEAR to the best ever....not even close. I mean......would love to see a guy like Shaun Alexander timewarp himself into Emmit's body.......oh who am I kidding, you get my point......Emmit isn't a bad running back...but OH SO OVER-RATED

now for my player where ya just can't believe they actually get paid:

1) PETE GONZALEZ from the Hamilton Tiger Cats (CFL)......ok this guy is the back-up for Hamilton, and I'll say this......he is horrific.....I mean horrific. The guy just can't throw the ball  Maybe you guys that follow the NCAAFB might know this guys deal (he played for Pitt) but I assure you he has no clue how to play in the CFL. I've seen him miss passes by more then 5 yards, and he does it over and over again....call me crazy...but shouldn't a QB be able to throw the ball with more accuracy then a 12 year old girl

well I'm sure there will be plenty more to add to my list.....bring em on madjackers :p

I know I will get slack for this one but Edgerrin James. Geez look at last nite, indy doesn't need this guy. Least Marshall faulk was a class act and for the team and they shipped him off to bring this one man show in. The dude is only out for one thing himself and his money. He is probably gonna have a good year just because he knows he is close to contract renogiations.

They talked to him at halftime on the game last nite, poor guy has a sore back, but he sure as hell was dancing and jumping every time peyton scored. Hell the dude can't even speak normal english through all those gold teeth.

Oh well said my peace!!

GO HORSE!! 4-0 BABY!! :) :)

Barry(freakin) Larkin: the Red's have let SO much talent loose to save money to "bring in a winning team with the new stadium. They gave Larkin a huge contract and he hasn't played in half the games of that 3 year deal. So now, he's 40 and his contract's up, after letting more talent slip away to save money they offer him 500,000 with incentives to reach 1,000,000..........he said no.....what an obnoxious JERK! But, Carl lindener(the owner) wants Barry to retire a RED so bad they counter offer with 700,000 and all of a sudden his feelings are'nt hurt anymore:mad: :moon:

I love these type of threads. The comments on Emmit Smith were pretty harsh, although I see the point that was made. Agree that Smith is NO WHERE near the best back of all-time (Jim Brown and Gale Sayers are my 1-2 pick). Now, on to the most over-rated and overpaid athlete:

MY CHOICE: Any rookie draft pick that hasn't played a down, yet holds out of training camp for a big fat contract. To me, this is blasphemy. Usually, these -- often career-wrecking decisions -- are made by the pimp agent who only wants a bigger cut for himself, with no regard for the athletes (or the team's) future. These athletes want top dollar, yet haven't thrown a pass or scored a basket. This list includes Heath Shuler-types -- over-rated college prospects who miss crucial weeks of camp and development and then turn out to be complete frauds. Shuler is the poster boy for every college draftee. A message to all the holdouts -- Get your ass in camp and PROVE you are worth the money. Those athletes that miss early camp more often than not are busts. I don't think this is an accident. Bad attitudes, selfish behavior, and trouble bonding with fellow teammates are the by-roducts of these rookies who come in thinking the world owes them a billion dollars.

Lebron James -

No offense, but what has he done? Other then sign multi-gazillion dollar contracts and hasn't even shot an NBA shot.

Don't get me wrong he's great with a 3-4 run lead but he is pitiful in the clutch and extremely overrated in the field!

How about a coach ?

Joe Paterno. Other than a couple of rants directed towards officials, what does this guy really do??

The once proud Penn State program is just a shadow of its past.
Time to hang 'em up Joe:(

Great thread, fun to read.....where shall we start, there are so many, I dont want to waste my entire day typing, so Ill just name a few, in no order really b/c Im too tired to think of an order, Im sure I could name 50 more, these are off top of my head, I find nba and mlb to have the most

1) Glen Rice- he's making 9 million, best days are behind him, bad knees, 15 pts a game at best and does nothing besides stand outside and shoot 3's

2) Eric karros- 5-6 million for this guy, he was a bust on la, had a good game last night, but this guy really never panned out, figures, he was a dodger, overpaid bunch of losers that team

3) Roger Cedeno- watched a lot of my hometown mets games, this guy doesnt hit worth a lick, and makes 5-6 million, what a great country, hit .250 for 5 million a year, sign me up

4) half of the NY knicks- again, my hometown team, theyre capped out for the next zillion years.......Eisley, shandon anderson both making 5-6 million a year and are not very good, what a travesty! Mc dyess 10 mil a yr, hasnt played a game with the team since hurting his knees

5) Derek Jeter- Im not bashing him, hes a great player, good clutch playoff performer, but he isnt a 17 mil a yr player.. He doesnt produce what arod does, he has intangibles, but not worth that kind of cash IMO, cant classify him as overrated per say though

6) Damon stoudamire- this guy was good on the raptors, in fact great, goes to portland, gets caught with reefer 10 times, and still has a huge fat contract for playing 15 mins a game, another sham
