ATL and lean to over
ATL and lean to over
I like the way ATL responds after a loss, and this Ramirez kid learned to adjust second time a team sees him after he failed to do against FL April 11 (his last loss).
some trends:
Braves has dropped two in row just once in the last month and a half.
Braves have won last five series vs Mets.
Braves are 11-1 vs Lefties this season, and 8-0 on sundays so far.
Some Braves do hit Leiter hard, from official sites:
Leiter will have his hands full with Julio Franco, Gary Sheffield and Chipper Jones. The trio are hitting a combined .390 (41-for-105) with six homers in their career against the southpaw.
Julio Franco had five hits, including a homer, in 11 at-bats against Leiter last year to raise his career average against him to .571 (12-for-21). ... Chipper Jones, who may not play on Sunday because of a jammed left wrist he suffered on Saturday, has 18 hits, including three homers, in 55 at-bats against Leiter. ... Gary Sheffield, who won a World Championship with Leiter in Florida during the 1997 season, has 11 hits, including a homer, in 29 at-bats against his former teammate.
from Atlanta paper:
The Braves can only hope Chipper Jones' left wrist does not cost him time out of the lineup. The left fielder jammed his hand while sliding into second in the ninth, and while there appeared to be no serious damage, trainers cannot gauge until Jones reports to the park tonight.
"It hurt bad," said Jones, who had earlier trouble with a sprained thumb on the same hand. "It was a throbbing pain that made it tough to grip anything. I didn't think Bobby should have taken me out. I think he thought it was my [sore] groin."
Hamstring No. 2
Javy Lopez also may be held out tonight, due to a sore right hamstring suffered four nights ago while running the bases. By letting back-up Henry Blanco work the whole Mets series and Monday's off day, Lopez can give the muscle a full week to recover.
