Think it goes back to my childhood--parents never have had credit card. I do have three--one (AMX)I use for business expense (with year end record for tax purposes--A MC in case they don't take AMX and visa I requested small limit of $1000 on that I use for any rare on-line transaction.

Getting ready to ax the AMX if I can find way to transfer miles--just got letter they are increasing yearly fee from $75 to $85. In this day and time- have to moron (I am) to have paid the previous $75--just hated to cancel since I had it since 1976--but this was straw that broke camels back. The letter stated they were adding "free benefits" that no one would use then--say oh by the way we are raising fee to $85 (yea right free) Have tried 3 diff phone #'s and have yet to get a live person:mad:

On the course!
I remember that thread.

I think I might have even asked how the hell you could live without one in this day and age. The funniest thing happened shortly after that thread:

I had an issue with my debit card, and it was taking far too long to resolve it, and too many, "Things should be fine now" phone calls with my institution.

I finally cut it in two, and sent it back to them.

I figured I would be kicking myself in the ass for doing that, and thought no biggie.......the card expires in October, and a new one will be getting mailed out at that time. (This was back in late May if I recall) I would suffer for half a year.

Well, the strangest thing happened.

I found myself actually spending less cash!

Since it wasn't right at my finger tips, I seemed to "make do" with what I had on me, or simply do without.

I have to admit.........I don't miss the rotten fukker one damned bit! In fact, I will not carry the new one on me, either.

Cash is king for me!

GF got taken for a ride when she used one of those plastic thingies to pay for a friggen Starbucks purchase. Scum were standing by her and got her pin and got whatever other needed info from the situation and went on a run.

I would not know how to use an ATM machine
No debit cards.........1 credit card and use it for everything. Cash back 4 to 500 per year. $$ earns till the end of the month...always pay in full
noooooo interest.
I always carry cash just in case and used to pay everything in cash till credit cards began the givebacks... Old habits die hard.
I really do not need an ATM

I probably make 90 percent of my purchases with check cards. I moved to a town in Wisconsin for about a year where a lot of the places to eat didn't take CC or check cards... it was hard to adjust to. Now that I'm back in a major metro area, it's much easier for me to not have to worry about carrying cash.

never have had one.

I don't like the 1.50 charge per transaction or whatever it is. My wife has one so we empty her account when I need cash.

Direct deposit, a debit card, credit card and on-line banking.

The only time, and I mean ONLY time I have had actual green paper cash in my hand for as long as I can remember is at the casino in Atlantic City and that was only for the breif moment I was walking from the ATM to the cashier.

I like it better this way.

Business expenses go on credit card that is paid off every month by company.

Personal expenses are 95% debit card unless they don't accept cards. I usually carry $40-60 just in case.

Also use Bank of America's "Keep the Change" feature which transfers leftover change to my savings account. So if I spend $8.35 at lunch (Jersey Mike's regular #13 with chips and drink), then it is rounded up to $9.00 and the $0.65 is transferred to savings account. Basically, a virtual change jar. Silly, but i like it.

Nice perk on "keep the change" Dawg--
--the worse thing about using cash is you always have pocket full of change--which you have to sort out and roll up at some point in time.

Agent-- Can't see anyhing wrong with cash carring people with exception of chance of losing wallet.
Out of curiousity when your group finishes rd of golf do you all meet at atm to settle up :)
