LAA@TB
A series of stellar defensive plays kept James Shields out of trouble early, and the Rays eventually broke through against Ervin Santana. Then in the eighth inning, with the bases loaded and two outs, Willy Aybar stroked a two-run single that provided the margin in a victory that gave the Rays the best record in the AL.

Way to go Selig..
you wouldn't rest until you satisfied all your good buddies w/a team in TB.
The team become a laughing stock for years..
They are one of four active teams never to have played in a World Series, the others being the Texas Rangers, the Washington Nationals, and the Seattle Mariners. They are the only team to have never made it to the playoffs, having finished in last place in every season of their existence, with the exception of 2004, when they finished fourth in their division.
Tonite they have the best record in all of MLB ....and guess what..
15,902 showed up to see them take on the West Div. leaders and the team w/the best record in MLB prior to this win by the Rays.
