yes, im officially retarded.

im trying to attach into an email a document that i composed on Word Perfect 10.

so on my email:

* i clicked on 'attach file'
* i located it in the 'my documents' folder
* i attached it and this appears in the attachment box:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\raymondmoses.wpd
* so i sent the email and the receiver said that it nothing happened when they tried to open it. (they clicked on the file, clicked on 'open' and nothing happened)
* so i sent the same attachment to myself, and he was right... the attachment is being sent. but its not opening. nothing new is coming up on the screen

when i try to open it, the box comes up that says:

file name: raymondmoses
file type: word perfect 10 document
from: ...webmail....

does the fact that i typed it on word perfect 10 have anything to do with it? what am i doing wrong? when i received the email that i sent to myself, the file came up as a binary file?

yes, i am a moron. but still need help
;)

check your e-mail security settings

internet explorer -> tools -> security

check that "do not allow attachments... blabla etc" is not
marked

After it appears in the attachment box you're clicking "done" right??? It sounds like you might be just leaving out the final step of attaching.

yeah. i sent the email to myself (to test it out) and it DID have the attachment link.

it says the following:

raymondmoses.wpd (binary attachment)

1) i dont know what a binary attachment is. is that what it should say?

2) when i click on it, i DO get the box that says "file download"..... "would you like to open this file or save it to your computer".

when i click on "open".......nothing happens

A binary attachment is not an easy thing to e-mail. Seems to be the way you're saving it, Id copy it over to wordpad and save it as a .txt file and I bet it goes that way.

then thats definitely what it is, because its going to a binary file by default (hell, i dont even know what a binary is, lol. i certainly dont want to send it that way)

how do i take something from Word Perfect 10 (similar to a Microsoft Works) and transfer it to a .txt file?

i know its probably an incredibly basic question but i just dont know anything about that kind of stuff

Check to see if it will allow a "save as" in corel's WP as either a .rtf (rich text format) which is normally portable. You can also save the .wpd as a text document and import ascii text into word. Are you certain you've fully explored WP's save function??? Toggle the file type requester in the save dialogue and see if there is a microsoft word option. Failing any of these, simply open both applications (if they are resident on your pc) and cut from WP into MS works' word processor from the clipboard.
