On the course!
This is for all of the guys here who argue political issues all day.

Does one political party really matter one iota over the other? Does your day to day life, or life in general change due to whom is in office?

Through all the bullshit name calling and mud slinging these assholes do, does it even fuhking matter who sits in the Oval Office?

The answer is no, so please quit all the hand wringing and crying over who "runs the country". Cash your check, drink your libation, watch your "reality tv", and get on with life.

I can't think of too many day shattering events that have rocked our world because "that guy" was the President. Wars? They come and go, and we still watch Seinfeld re-runs. The market? Up and down, and we still play golf on Saturday. Etc, etc, etc............

Worrying about who runs the country? What a way to spend your day.

EXCEPT when we have to explain to 8 year olds what exactly is perjury and oral sex. OR When my Dad couldn't answer my simple question as to why we couldn't get those hostages out of Iran. :D

YYZ- I generally agree with that idea, but there are some exceptions. Just two comments on that from me:

First, I honestly believe that we would not have invaded Iraq if Gore was president. I would think we can agree that is a pretty significant event, especially to the families of those that have died.

And second, there is the potential that a new justice could join the Supreme Court during this next term if someone steps down. That could possibly give the ultra-conservatives the edge on the court. That could set this country back about 100 years in terms of personal freedoms and rights, as those justices don't have "terms" and could shape future decisions for decades, not just a four-year term.

hey Wilson, wasn't it old Ronnie himself that couldn't answer those questions about hostages, "I CAN'T RECALL", I CAN'T RECALL, I CAN'T RECALL, I CAN'T RECALL,

speaking of Ronnie, saw old Nancy making the rounds, now begging for STEM CELL RESEARCH. Same technology Reagan put the hammer down on in the late 80' s. Seems Ronnie could use some stem cells now with that Alzheimer's problem. Now Nancy is all for stem cells. Like most things, its needed by THEM NOW, SO ITS A GOOD THING, SO REPUBLICAN.

i agree

i agree

basically with yyz......but,imo,9/11 has changed the way i look at things...

i expect that we`ll be getting hit with an,unfortunately, earth shattering terrorist attack on our own soil again in the near future.....

and i think that some things like the patriot act are necessary, even though lawyers and civil libertarians cry like babies and cite worst case scenarios regarding abuses of the laws...never citing the checks and balances that have been put in place to protect people`s rights...

as far as the jose padilla`s and the "shoe bomber`s" of the world and their civil rights are concerned,i could give a healthy sh-t if their civil rights are violated.........i don`t really care....

i worry about my family....i worry about the safety of my family and my friends...i worry about law abiding, hard working people that keep their noses clean and do the right thing.......and don`t put themselves in compromising situations....like many on this board...

i know even mentioning the patriot act to some makes me "hitlerian"....as i said i don`t give a big rat`s ass...

i want the government to do everything in it`s power to protect me and mine...

i hope if kerry gets in,he`ll tow the line...if he does,he`s o.k. with me....i can afford to pay higher taxes...i can handle a democratic president....

just keep us safe...

GW. great post
I agree with you about not caring about taxes as long as my kids are taken care of. The thing with the Patriot Act, I just have to trust that they dont misuse it.

gw- as always you make sense, great post. And although I agree, I certainly am not looking forward to the day you elude to regarding a attack.

On a more pleasant note, we hold that shoe bombing ****ing idiot here in Massachusetts, at Cedar Junction maximum security penitentiary, few of my high school buddies are correction officers there. I can assure you he doesn't enjoy a happy existence:D ;)

9/11 did change our day to day lives for a while, but I doubt the reason for the attack was who was in the White House at the time.

My point is that we hear so much, "Damned Republicans/Dems/Libs, etc", and it's not like we had some garden party while this guy was in office, and now we are standing in bread lines.

with you....just don`t want anyone to fall asleep at the wheel just because we`ve had almost 3 good years without being attacked at home...if kerry gets in,i just hope he doesn`t let the civil libertarians throw the baby out with the bathwater....

after the 9/11 hearings,i don`t think that will happen...

no disagreement from me...
