Not Scott, but the latest update we've received on our recruiting site is that he will announce on Tuesday at his new school. Apparently he graduated early & will be enrolling in the Spring semester.

The talk on the SC message boards is that this looks good for Ohio State since SC will have been in session for 2 weeks by the time tuesday rolls around.

Thanks for the update, please keep me informed. I knew Carroll went out there for Davis. I heard the visit went well and there are some rumors that USC is Davis #1. Just rumors. Its pretty amazing because USC is recruiting 4 of the top 10 WR in the nation this year. All 4 have USC in their top 2. Last year USC got the #1 and #3 WR's in the nation. HOW IS CARROLL GETTING ALL THESE GUYS INTEREST???? There is not enough room for all this talent. He is simply amazing. USC is recruiting DAVIS, JARRET, COLVIN, and JONES all at WR. Just 1 of these guys would be awesome, but USC is trying to get 3. WOW.

Today USC got a verbal from Rivers, from Lake Mary (Fla.) High School, is a five-star linebacker prospect that committed to Southern Cal over Florida. Zook wanted him badly. Also in this same class, USC recieved verbal from 5 star JC LB. The #1 JC LB in the nation. Powdrell. SOOO many 5 star recruits for USC this class. USC and OU easily will have the top 2 classes this year and I give OU slight edge because they got #1 QB and #1 RB.

i think what amazes me most is that penn state continues to get blue chip talent even during these recent struggles. that speaks both for and against paterno. its still easy for him to sell kids on the tradition but theyre not producing when they get there

Does anyone know which way WR Xavier Carter(Florida) is leaning?

Ranking recruiting classes is very difficult. I recall Texas getting some extremely high grades in recruiting throughout the Mack Brown era with limited results as far as Nat'l Titles and BCS Bowl victories are concerned. Whereas, LSU and USC have been receing very high marks and both have translated their recruiting classses into BCS Bowl victories (LSU won Sugar 2 of past 3 years) and split this year's Nat'l title.

Toledo
Rogers? Davis still undecided

By STEVE JUNGA
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

Rogers High School senior Fred Davis, the highest profile football recruiting target in Toledo history, is still not ready to make his final decision on a college.

The 6-4, 210-pound Davis, a first-team All-Ohio receiver in 2002 who earned first-team honors this past season at defensive back, canceled a press conference that was scheduled for today at the school to announce his choice.

A press release issued by Rams football coach Rick Rios yesterday afternoon announced the cancellation, and indicated that a local television report Tuesday suggesting that Davis had perhaps "signed a letter of intent" with the University of Southern California was inaccurate.

National signing day, the first day football athletes can sign a letter of intent to officially accept a scholarship offer, is Feb. 4.

Davis has narrowed his list of possible schools to Ohio State, Southern Cal, Miami (Fla.) and the University of Florida. A Miami coach visited Davis early Tuesday, and USC head coach Pete Carroll visited him later in the day.

Florida head coach Ron Zook saw Davis yesterday, and OSU assistant Luke Fickell is scheduled to visit Davis today. Miami head coach Larry Coker and Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel already have made their official visits with Davis.

Rios said yesterday that Davis still plans to graduate early, having completed the first two quarters (one semester) at Rogers with enough credits to do so. If Davis does graduate early, he will stop competing for the Rogers basketball team, and he hopes to enroll early at the college he selects.

Of his final four, Ohio State would be the only school he would likely be able to enroll at in time to participate in spring football practice because of its quarter system.

Xavier Carter.
I thought he was leaning towards Miami last I saw, but I could be wrong on that....

If Davis comes to USC he will be at least 2 weeks behind in classes. However, he still can enroll at USC becuase I think the last day to add a class is Feb. 1st so it will be easy to catch up. He prob. only would take 2 classes at the most.

RUMOR IS DAVIS VERBALLED TO PETE CARROLL. WIll he hold it? I am starting to get really pumped about this kid. He seems to have a Mike Williams body and he even envisions himself being the next Mike Williams. Never seen the kid play but hear he is the real deal.

This is all Davis needs to know...........

Current temperature is 12 degrees in Toledo. The cold weather is expected to continue although the temperature is expected to hit a high of 24 degrees on Sunday. By then, it'll be safe to break out the shorts and head to the Maumee river for some fun in the sun.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is holding steady at 70 degrees.

I guess I did set myself up for that one, but who cares. You knew what i meant. Davis kid looks just like Mike Williams, except he not as tall. (i was going to say 2inches smaller but i guess i would set myself up for another one) ;)

What I find funny is your posts lately been pretty harsh towards me. It is funny that I was the only guy on madjacks to wish you a Happy Birthday and not once have I made any "personal" attacks towards you or anyone. I just find it odd.

Im bout 99% sure Fred Davis is gonna be a Buckeye tho...

I would not be suprised at all if Davis comes to USC. From inside sources, USC coaches are confident in getting him. The problem the USC coaches are having is getting all 3 of the top WR's in the nation to USC. Carroll wants them all. Some inside info guys feel very strong that Davis is coming to USC. No lock, but they are confident. Also, i been told Davis verballed to Carroll. So no way you could say your 99% sure Davis is going to OSU. Even OSU Fans are worried as hell. Nobody quite knows. I can tell you one thing, if he chooses USC, he better leave fast because he has a LOT of pressure to stay home. Oh yeah, Davis has said that enrolling early is not much of a factor anymore. USC started classes last week. ;)

hellah - on another note what have you heard in terms of OSU's QB for next year. Almost everything I've read is that Troy Smith will be the favorite and coach's pick to be under center. Many of us have been anxious to see what Zwick can do but who knows when he'll get the chance. Most of my friends in Columbus have heard he is in Tressel's dog-house...

As far as Davis, the last 3 weeks I've heard that he is finally thinking about staying home. When all is said and done I think he'll stay and the Buckeyes will land 2-3 more Top-100 guys leaving them at #3 in recruiting this year behind LSU and USC. As far as fans being worried about Davis most didn't believe he would stay. With Roy Hall and Santonion Holmes playing well the last few games, the WR position will be fine... The big question is:who's going to throw the ball???
