Sania Mirza vs Eleni Daniilidou

No player on tour has been happier about the start of hardcourt season than Sania Mirza, who has compiled a 8-2 singles record in Cincinnati and Stanford while partnering with Shahar Peer to take home the doubles title in both events as well. (Well, maybe Anna Chakvatadze who won both of those events)

All this has added up to a lot of court time for Mirza. She played a grueling three set match against doubles partner Peer yesterday, prevailing 63 46 62 in a match that lasted over two hours. Now she has to make a quick turnaround against Daniilidou. It is a wonder how Mirza made it out of the match against Peer. She placed just 54% of her first serves in and won only 29% of her second serve points. That won't get it done against Daniilidou, who was off from singles yesterday and had a pretty routine win against Craybas on Monday, winning over 55% off Craybas' serve. These two have met once before. at Stanford in 2005 with Mirza prevailing in three. I think we have ourselves a live dog here.

Daniilidou goes down 7-6 6-3 but it was not due to a lack of chances. She converted just 5 of 20 break points. Terrible, just terrible.
