Ivo Karlovic -150 over Vince Spadea

Karlovic was very impressive in his dismantling of Korolev yesterday, winning 90% on his first serve. He did not face any break points and lost just 6 points on his serve during the whole match, while firing 18 aces. With the victory Karlovic improved to 4-1 all time at Washington.

He now faces Vince Spadea, who came away with a tight 7-6 7-6 victory over equally hard serving Wesley Moodie yesterday. Spadea was able to overcome the big serve of Moodie by taking advantage on his second serve, winning 63% of the points.

Karlovic has too much power and this price is too nice to pass up. Karlovic should win in straights.

Adding...

Dinara Safina -125

Pretty much the same theory as I had yesterday with Mirza having played so much tennis over the last few weeks, she is bound to hit the wall at some point. Safina is a tough opponent who should be able to make Mirza work hard if she is to advance.

Interestingly enough, the price on Karlovic has gone down form -150 to -140. I still like the play but am concerned as to why the price would drop.

The 'public' looks to be loading up on Spadea. This happened with Grosjean the other day and he lost so.... Can only hope the trend continues as Karlovic sends down some of those big first serves.

Terrible call on Safina as she failed to show up at all, losing 1 and 2.

Karlovic continued his dominant serving, firing 19 more aces while not facing a single break point. He won a ridiculous 16/17 points on serve in the first set and converted 3 of 4 break chances against Spadea's serve. He looks to be on course for a semifinal date with Roddick, with a real shot at making Sunday's final.
