Hope to not upset anybody by starting this new topic... I love Nascar races but if we can make some extra bucks on F1, why not?

It is not very hard to pick Schumacher to win the first race of the season but at 8/5, it has little value... I give him 50% of chance of winning that one (unless he drives behind Hakkinen or Villeneuve!)

According to the reading i've made, the McLaren drivers Hakkinen and Coulthard have no confidence this week about winning the race. The new engine V-10 of Mercedes-Benz is not running well and their new cars MP4-16
haven't advance as they though....

When i have the matchups line or more info, i'll get back to you to share it.

Let's have a great season!!!!!!!!

The countdown has started!

Can't wait for the qualifications tonight!

Yesterday practice showed us we will see again the Ferrari and the McLaren in front of everybody (with Ferrari well over McLaren).

The big question is who is gonna finish third
in constructor championship. That battle should be between Jordan and Williams. Ralf
Schumacher (Williams)is in great shape and will use Michelin tires. We will have to see the effect on these tires and the battle between Bridgestone and Michelin. You all know Montaya (Williams) was a champion in Cart racing but will he collapse like Zanardi? Don't think so but he will have to show his mental strenght on these tracks and Ralf won't help him with any hints (They even don't talk to each others!) Jordan has 2 competitive drivers who finished 9th (Frentzen) and 10th (Trulli)last year. They will use the same engine as BAR (Honda V10) and should be in the battle for the third or fourth place.

Last constructor i would like to write about is the rising of BAR. Signin Olivier Panis was the biggest move made by Pollock. Villeneuve will be hard push by the experience of Panis and both drivers get along well (well..for now!) Don't be surprise to see Panis ahead of Villeneuve in some races! These guys are great competitors and BAR might surprise as the "long shot" constructor for third ! I will enjoy that competition between Villeneuve and Panis. BAR can't go down with these guys!

Oh, and don't expect Benetton to perform well this year. No better than a sixth place.

All the lines are from Olympic:

All plays are 1 unit except few best bet (2 units)

Qualifying match ups:

Schum -120 over Hakkinen (2 units)
Frentzen -125 over Montoya
Villeneuve -150 over Montoya
Panis -140 over Irvine
Villeneuve -140 over Button
Barrichello +130 over Coulthard

Race match ups:

Schum -140 over Hakkinen (2 units)
Trulli -105 over Villeneuve
Panis -150 over Irvine (2 units)

Odds to win:

I will take Schum at 8/5 for 1 unit and my long shot is Barrichello (half unit) at 12/1 !

I will keep track of my record through the whole season.

Good luck everybody and let's have a nice $$$$ season!!!

I am not that mad on Formula1 betting but one stat I have seen is that Hakkinen has finished on pole position here the last 3 years which is pretty impressive - I have seen +175 at Sportingbet for him to do the same again this year has anyone seen any better?

Great week 1837
biggrin.gif

Have been a F1 player myself - but as with all sports usually try to stay away from 1st week or two [wish I had done with the golf
rolleyes.gif
] until I can get a feel for the new season ... and especially one in which the first two races takes place in the middle of the night in the UK!

Very impressed with you picking winners pre-qualifying. I've always waited until after knowing the grid positions and they can be so important in F1. Lower price, but usually better chance of winning.

Hope I can contribute something by next month, but I can assure you there are a lot of racing fans at MJs, but when you have all been killing the man it can be pretty intimidating to join the fray

Thank you all for your support (Anders, Djv,Big tease, Stanley...). However, don't expect another magic weekend like this one for the Malaysian Grand Prix but i'll try to give you all the info i have.

Contrary to you Stanley, i prefer to make many bets at the beginning of the season because the value is there. Bookies are not sharp and it's time to take profit of it. It's true it's more difficult to bet race match ups before the qualification but again, your odds are so much better! The factor chance is always there and we need it too (thanks i had it on my side this weekend!). However, i can assure you i've spent hours to cap before doing my picks. I have a lot of good info, a source close of Jacques Villeneuve, and i've been following F1 for 20 years so i can honestly say i know where to go.

I won't bash you guys by telling you we all gonna hit 75% to 100% every race but i expect no less than a 60% of winning picks. I'm eager to see what would be the record at the end of the year but a 9-0 starts is a beginning and we can build from there. This weekend i've made lots of picks but don't be surprise to see less as the season progress. Lines will be sharper and when i see no value, i don't bet. It is as simple as that.

Stanley, i'll be glad to share your knowledge in F1 through the season. You are my golf man but hey, why not in F1!!!

Eager to see you all here in two weeks!
