Well, here it is, a all new season in up front of us! Gentlemen, starts your engines and be ready to roll!!!!!!

Let's do a quick recap of last year: Our target was to hit 60% of all f1 bets. We ended at 128-65-1 so 66%. It is much better than i first expected and gladly took it but as djv wrote, it's gonna get tougher this year. The target I want to get will be 60%.
I sincerely know we will have problems to find many offshores who'll be offering the qualifying and races match ups. As evidence, let's remember what happened with camelot and now i've just spoke to someone from Grand Central Sports and he hardly let me know they won't offer any match ups in F1 this year. :( I guess we hit them too hard last year...

That is why i would like to have all the participation of you guys who know where to find some F1 lines. I know these books will be there for sure: Olympics, WSEX, Royalbet, Centrebet,Direcbet,Willhill... If you know others please let us know! If we want to make some $$$ we need to help each others! :D

What to expect from the first Grand Prix? Usually, this is the best times to take advantage of lines differences from sportsbooks (let's remember we took profit of it and started the season 10-0 last year!). Some cars are ready some are not. I won't elaborate too much 'cause we know we are read by some bookies and i don't want to help them in any way:moon: This year, i plan to post picks but with much less info than last year. It is not by lazyness of my side but to protect ourselves. I will give general info but no more insights. If you look at the units i'll be using, you'll know where to go!:) Most of the picks will be 1 or 2 units like last year but sometimes, you'll see a 3 units and IF we're lucky, we will get a 4 units like last year!:D For now, i'll be using Olympic, Royalbet and WSEX. If any of you show me a sportsbooks where i see something good i will gladly sign up with them and give your name as referral!

Ferrari will be using last year car for the australian GP 'cause the level of confidence in the new engine isn't as high as expected. However, Schumi should be rocking this weekend. Let's see if others teams with their 2002 cars will make it it tougher for ferrari.

Michelin brought a new set of revolutionary tires but it isn't suppose to be in effect this weekend. Moseley said they were illegal and would disqualify every teams that will be using them but Michelin answer back they were respecting all the rules about tires. It is a story to follow...

New drivers this year: Sato with Jordan, Massa with Sauber, the australian boy Webber with Minardi and Salo and Mc Nish with the new team Toyota.

Expect a good year from Sauber and Renault and a worst from BAR and Jaguar...:p

well, let's see some practicing times before pulling the trigger!

Qualifying : Friday at 9h00 pm (eastern times)
Race: Saturday at 10h00 pm (eastern times)

To all of you: Have a great season and let's have fun!:D

Welcome to MJs.
Great of you to jump and and offer some good input.
Any comments you hear directly from the drivers or teams would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have links to the newspapers in the cities of the F1s?

Montoya strikes early blow

Williams driver knocks Ferrari's 'negative' approach

10:59, Tuesday February 26, 2002

Montoya is in a confident frame of mind
Williams team driver Juan Pablo Montoya has struck an early psychological bow against title rivals Ferrari by saying that the boys from Maranello have made a mistake in using their 2001 car in Melbourne.

The Colombian's believes that if his Williams team turned up with last year's FW23 in Australia they would struggle to make an impression at the front of the grid. Ferrari has made the decision in the interests of reliability.

"It's positive for us and negative for them if you really think about it," said Montoya. "If we came here with last year's car we'd end up 10th on the grid this weekend. They're starting with a car that last year had a lot of potential. But if they didn't change the car a lot from last year, it might not be the winning car."

Despite playing down Ferrari's chances, Montoya says it would still be foolish for himself and his team to expect an easy ride.

"Apart from Michael, you've got to beat everybody else as well," added Montoya. "You've got to focus on driving the car, not beating Michael. There are 21 other cars out there. Where you need to focus is in making sure you do the right job. If you do the right job, the results will come.

"But I can't say that I am going to challenge for the title. We don't know if we are going to have to challenge Ferrari because we have not tested with them, so we don't know how quick they are. We have tested with McLaren and it is going to be a very interesting fight with them. It's very hard to say who is quicker at the moment, we look to be very even and both cars are on the same tyre."

Ferrari's decision to go for reliability rather than pace mirrors Jaguar Racing's approach to its previous two season openers in 2000 and 2001. This year, however, the Milton Keynes based outfit has changed to a slightly more radical approach in order to make greater strides forward earlier in the season.

The all-new R3 that will line up on the grid in Melbourne features a brand new floor and revised aerodynamic package that reacted positively in its final test session at Silverstone.

Here we go!

First qualifying match ups of the season !(no more until the end of the first day of practice)
I really like that one

Heidfeld -138 over fisichella (2 units) at Bet365usa

Sauber had strong practices all winter long and Honda engine isn't as strong as expected from Jordan and Bar team. Heidfeld should logically finish ahead of fisichella during qualifying... Eager now to see some practices times results (less than 12 hours!):D

hi 1837, over from golf...i cannot work out how to email or send you a message so here goes in public, hardly a secret though..
you might like to try http://www.betfair.com
it is person to person site, and has so far seen off the opposition in the UK, including swallowing one of them up.
what you might like, is that you can ask them to put up any bet you like..
so, I have had a quick look and see they have match ups for the race itself, but not for the qualifying..if you do not see a match up you like, just email them and they will add it..I suggest you send in a few bogus ones as well, otherwise these new match ups tend to stand out..
there is a lot of arbing going on at the site, but there does seem to be quite a flow of cash..and you get to name your own odds!
you can also lay odds, so act as bookmaker!
I just emailed them to add Heidfeld v Fisichella, so it will be up there later today..
Let us see what happens!

Further to my advice on the 'magical world of F1' thread a couple of other bits of interest: 1st practice in 1 hour! (previous was Season match bet Renault v Jordan @ evens (Coral), Webber vs Yoong qualifying match bet @ 8/13 (-163) (Bet365), 5 or more teams to have neither car finish @10/1 (Bet365))

I'm also on 10 or less finishers @7/4 and 2/1 (Bet365 or PaddyPower) - this would have been a winner in 4 of the last 6 seasons + is overpriced in my humble opinion.

Heinz Harald Frentzen is worth a bet @10/1 to be in the points with Surreysports.com, I'm not convinced his car will last the race, but given as I'm working on the basis of a limited number of finishers, and he should be quicker than at least 5 cars + probably the Jags too, it looks reasonable value.

Lastly + I really could use an opinion on this one  Paddypower.com have priced up an over - under finishing position for every driver. eg Michael Schu is 11/8 to be 1st, 8/15 to be 2nd or worse. This continues for every driver in betting order - it seems to fall down at the back end of the grid - eg Mark Webber is 5/6 (-120) to finish 18th or better, 5/6 to finish 19th or worse. Therefore, if he lasts longer in the race than 4 other drivers (+ he'll be quicker than Yoong anyway) you collect !! Surely not a 5/6 chance :D He doesn't have to finish either as there is no price to cover that outcome.

Best of luck + somebody please reply this time - or does noone have an opinion out there! :moon:

Cheers
