AZ Cardinal Coach

It's being reported that Andy Reid is will be announced as the new Cardinal coach after the required Rooney rule interview with Ray Horton.

For the first time in history, the coach of a 5-11 team is fired and replaced with the coach of a 4-12 team...what a joke.

The only reason to fire Wisenhut was to elevate Ray Horton to head coach so you wouldn't lose him. Now, it probably is doubtful that Horton will stay, Reid will put in place his cast of assistant losers from Philadelphia and, in the nightmare scenario, brings the dog-killer along with him.

Terrible, terrible decision.

If they are in fact bringing in Andy, it's because of the track record he had for 14 years, 11 winning seasons, 3 losing seasons, and a SuperBowl appearance. It's not an upgrade for AZ by no means, but since AZ cleaned house with GM & HC both going, my guess would be that Andy will have some front office control, something he's wanted for a long time, like Mike Holgrem did, which really didn't help Mike much now did it? Holmy did ok with Seattle after building Green Bay, but the lineage of Bill Walsh is what is being passed around in the NFL - all deciples of Walsh that became head coaches or front office people, Reid, Gruden, Holgrem, Mariucci, Mora, etc. The league with 7 openings won't bring in too many new people w/o going through the Rooney rule, one coach that should get a look and isn't being talked about much is Texas A&M Coach Sumlin. Talk is the Raheem Morris will get a shot again too.

GL to AZ!!
