Took the last week off and focussed on College Football.

Sens are coming off an 8 day break as they host the 'Canes who played last night on the road. If the Sens can escape the first 8-10 minutes of the game and knock off the rust they will win but instead I am going with the under. Over his career Lalime is 6-3-1 and has a 1.39 GAA against the 'Canes. Last season he was 3-0-1 with a 1.71 GAA against the 'Canes. Irbe should get the start tonight as Weekes has played 5 of the 7 games so far this year for Carolina. Sens will pay a great deal of attention to defense first tonight. Many of the players are quoted in todays papers as saying it is like re-starting the season with such a long lay off. With many of the players mind sets like that I am going to pass on playing the home side tonight. Strong play for me on the under.

Horns,

What do you think about Thursday night's game here in Boston? Usually a team coming off of an extended road trip is a solid go against. I think since the Sens haven't played in a week, maybe they get the rust off tonight and tomorrow they won't be very tired?

Actually I was thinking the exact same thing. Too boot, the Bruins are playing in their home opener so late in Oct. If the Sens lose tonight I will go after the Sens even harder tomorrow night. That 6 game trip will have profound effects now that the Bruins are home. They will feel like just unwinding and relaxing and getting back into a bit of a routine. Lots of these players are going to hook back to family life and sometimes when that happens they lose the focus they had on a long trip when all you do is eat and sleep hockey. Later,

Speaking of blowing up in your face. I pulled this from one of the local Boston papers for tomorrow nights game with Ottawa...The B's recent record (for this game) kind of goes against my theory.

Bruins notes

In the last five years, the Bruins are 3-0-2 in the home games immediately following their annual October excursion out West. After such a successful road trip, the B's seem a little more cautious of a dropoff when they return to the FleetCenter for their home-opener tomorrow night for their second consecutive divisional matchup, this one against Ottawa.

``The first game at home is going to be tough after a really long trip on the West Coast,'' goalie Steve Shields said. ``It was always the toughest game, but we'll have to prepare for that game. And I think guys are looking forward to getting home and being with their families. We'll just continue to work and prove that we've a got a really strong team.'' . . .

They do own the 'Canes at home but I am weary of a team coming off an 8 day break, this ain't like the NFL where you always get a week off. Especially with the 8 day break after only 3 games into season. Sens could lose this game in the first 10 minutes and 'Canes could sit on a 2-0 lead all game. I was out with some of the Sens on the weekend and they will definitely play with alot of passion and jam but the rust could be their undoing defensively in the first period. If the Sens escape the first period they will win this game for sure.

saw some stat about them earlier today that they score crazy vs. the nyr:D

I didn't pull the trigger in NYR/Was game. With Rangers you never know which team will show up. They can easily score 3 or 4 themselves with the right approch. Kolzig has been excellent so far. My leans are Caps & over but I'm not playing this game.

Horns, I'm not going near this one either. I think it was on Covers that I read the Caps are averaging 1.75 GF at home. Who knows shooting at the Rangers what could happen but add that in with the fact that Kolzig could regain his old form, stand on his head and kill any chance for an over play...or you could see a 6-4 type of game...

This one looks to me like it could go either way at any time. No play from this end.
