Maryland lays a big egg on ESPN2
Richmond beats Duke
William and Mary kills Virginia
Baylor wins at Wake Forest
Virginia Tech gets taken behind the woodshed by Alabama
N.C. State only gives up 7 points to South Carolina and loses

So what was the best win this weekend for the ACC?

Was it Georgia Tech beating Jacksonville State
How about Boston College thumping Northeastern
Maybe North Carolina thrashing the Citadel.
Possibly Clemson spanking Middle Tennessee State

4-6 with Florida State set to play on Monday night.

Worst conference by far.

Absolutely abysmal.

All is well, nice to actually see some positivity albeit against a horrible football team. I like us vs UCLA if the line is under 2 TD's a whole lot. FLA will still beat the hell out of us I think. Still shaky play at QB, but we are loaded at RB. Receiving corp will be very good eventually and the D is very solid. When you have Monte Kiffin, Orgeron, and Thompson, you know your D will be solid. I only see two for sure loses, and that is at Bama, and at FLA. Sure feel like there will be at least one more, but they will be ready to play every game which is a switch.

I don't think you guys are as good as last year, but your schedule is better. Only tough roadie is at Ole Miss, but I think they will fall back a little this year. Think there will be a rematch is the SEC title game, but don't think the outcome will be any different.

Take it easy RollTide.

I'm not here to defend the ACC as a great conference and have always said SEC is by far best in nation over last 20+ years.

That said....don't make a mountain out of a molehill.

Wm and Mary KILLED Virginia. You mean when they got a late pick-6 to win by 12 points.

VaTech TAKEN TO THE WOODSHED by Alabama? Having the lead going into the 4th quarter equals being taken to the woodshed???

Also, keep in mind that Maryland, Va, and Duke are probably the 3 worst teams this year, while GaTech, UNC, and Clemson are 3 of the best who just happened to play cupcakes to open the season.

And not only does Fla St play Monday...so does Miami. Coincidentily, they play each other. BTW, NC State played pitiful the entire game and still almost won.

Me thinks Ga Tech wins the ACC this year:0corn

Option will continue to give ACC Def's fits and Clemson will always lose 2 or 3 that they shouldn't.

I think Ga Tech in a cpl years could be top 5 in country:scared

Could you imagine teams like USC or Texas or Florida running that offense with the talent they have???

The only reason coaches don't run more complicated offenses like that is b/c they can't get the best talent to buy into it. It sucks, but you can't blame anyone b/c guys trying to get to the NFL aren't going to hinder their career so coaches had to adapt.

Its fun to watch and hard to defend and a shame. Makes you wish there was more of a minor league system for NFL and just let college football be what its supposed to be.

Agree - they will be able to get RB talent though and probably the "athletic" QB who is not that great of a passer. Hell, I would almost just train a backup RB to run the option?

I'm not making a mountain out of a molehill. Facts are facts and it's hard to ignore the scoreboard. I might have over reached on saying W & M killed UVA, but the bottom line is that they are an FBS school and still won at UVA. Let the Al Groh death watch begin... again.

I do stand by my comment that Bama took the Hokies to the woodshed. 498 yards of offense to 155 yards. 22 first downs for the Tide to only 11 for Va. Tech. 200 yards more rushing than the Hokies and they had the ball for almost 15 minutes more. Tech had no answer for the Tide. 98 yard kickoff return made this game closer than it was. Not to mention they allowed a 43-yard pass play on busted coverage, then committed personal foul and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on the same play. Bama was not flawless by any means but they handled the Hokies.

ga tech will be tough this year.....and for however long paul johnson is their coach....

it is utterly amazing the consistent success a coach that espouses a sytem that places such limitations on an offense in the 21st century achieves year in and year out....

he`s a motivator and a perfrctionist and ALWAYS gets the absolute most out of his kids....

don`t sleep on ga. tech...

the rest of the acc?...i agree with r.t....think it`s pretty pedestrian..it`s a basketball conference(at least it used to be before it was so watered down)....

According to your logic, you can take someone to the woodshed and still lose.

Not a good day for ACC, but you've hyped it a lot worse than it was.

I think the conference looks worse than it really is because of so much parity lately. FSU and Miami aren't dominant like they used to be and so you have a lot of good teams and tough conference games almost every week. There are no great teams and only a couple of bad ones...

What you end up with a whole lot of above-average teams beating up on each other on a weekly basis and the conference as a whole looking below average.

RollTide...also, good win for Alabama.

I'm a lifelong UNC fan (along with Notre Dame) and have always realized the ACC is average. Not a big fan of the expansion, especially when it was just FSU, but at least now there is a title game. Expansion made more sense a couple years ago but at least as a fan, made no sense in the early 1990's.

I will say that if an ACC team ends up 12-0, they deserve a shot at the nat'l title. Not many "gimme's" in conference play.
