From a historical perspective these riots are weak as fuck.
Seriously, google history of riots in the United States and boil a pot of coffee.

Be it political, race, alcohol! or labor riots, Americans really used to know how to fuck shit up.
The fact of the matter is, there is less violence, fewer murders, fewer police killings, fewer police killed and fewer large scale riots than in various other periods in American history.
The difference is, now, we hear about all of them, immediately.
Not saying blame the media or ignore the source problems. If anything I am more anti the current justice system than most (too many laws give police too many reasons to interact with citizens; which is basically the cause of 90% of these problems).
But if you watch a lot of these riot videos it's like 25 people causing trouble with 10000 people filming them. It's more of a spectacle than a riot. And everyone in American is watching it live.
Not sure how you can 'run' a society of 320 million people without some strife here and there. This is what people do.

I have been thinking the same thing only back during the Roman Empire when soldiers marched against protestors and spent the entire armory of spears by putting protestors heads on spikes.
