The question I would like to ask the committee is at what point do the games/results matter?

If you are just going to pick the teams you BELIEVE to be the four best despite the results then why play the games ,money obviously, but get rid of the fake National Championship if wins/losses don't matter.

to anyone bitching though, you really have no gripe either way

?don?t leave it in the hands of the judges?

I agree Coach....never leave your fortunes in the hands of others....

Control your own destiny or pipe down and go to your prospective Bowl.

I am concerned that "Resume" seems to have lost value in the decision making process but then again I'm old school......

OU beats UGA
clemson beats bama
OU beats Clemson

my humble prediction based on watching these teams all year.

Bama still won't be healthy at LB which is what caused them to struggle against MSU and get beat by us. Clemson Defense can force a QB to beat them through the air, same as Auburn did - Hurts isn't good enough to do that.

Bama backers - if Bama had started this season with the injuries they currently have - would you see the team the same way? Most rational Bama fans I talk to regularly said after the Iron Bowl that without some of their best defenders they really don't have a place in the playoffs. Sure they will take it given the opportunity, but I think most know that top-tier (healthy) teams should and probably will beat them. Especially ones with a good run defense - which all 3 other playoff teams have that.

UGA-OU not as confident in that outcome, and won't be betting on it unless I tease one team up 7 points (probably OU +8). UGA doesn't get a lot of pass pressure and don't blitz a lot. They keep a 2-deep look and keep everything in front of them. Can they keep Marquis Brown in front of them??? We'll see that dude is stupid fast.

I wouldn't let the SECCG fool you - Gus is an ignorant coach and kept putting Kerryon in there when he obviously wasn't 100%. Basically used him as a decoy for jet sweeps and end arounds. When he fumbled it in a 1 possession game that should have been the last time he saw the field. Kam Martin was doing just fine but Gus couldn't get out of his way. Also Carlton Davis (#1 CB and somewhere on the all-sec team) didn't play in the 2H because of a concussion... some people saying he got in a fight at halftime in the locker room but that's message board rumor. We had no depth in the secondary and losing our best corner was too much for the D to handle. I don't think UGA is as good as they looked on Saturday and OU has looked good most of the year.

OU-Clemson - Just a game where heismans tend to show why they won this award. Mentioned earlier Clemson D can make a QB win a game and that's Baker's cup of tea so I'd put money on OU pulling this one out.

Either way I think all 3 games, regardless of who is playing who, are going to be tight games. No 30-0's in this group.

Hate that Auburn couldn't play our way in but injuries happen and nothing you can do about it. If you told me before the season we'd be 10-3 and win the west, while beating UGA and Bama in the process, I'd be okay with it. All our skill players on Offense come back next year and we should be able to put together an OLine. Front 7 on defense is loaded and we'll hopefully have guys step up next year in the secondary.

Agree 100 percent,,,,Bama not a good defensive team with all the injuries and Hurts is one dimensional ,,I think Oklahoma wins it all but Clemson defense is pretty good,,If auburn firnds an O line nest year look out,,
Question,,Are you happy about a 7 year deal for Gus? Agree again on kerryon health and gus has him handling the ball,,Pass rush blocking i understand,,but running the ball??,

It just cracks me up that all year long everyone talks about certain teams and how dominate and great they look. As soon as OSU has a chance to leap frog any of those teams, and it's usually the last week of the season, the media and buckeye nut huggers instantly start to pick apart said teams resume and such. As if we're supposed to forget about OSU getting Jim Ross'd by an unranked team(please google stop the damn match if you don't understand).

Nobody wants to watch a Big 10 team get obliterated in the playoffs again. The conference as a whole needs to focus on improving their offenses before considering going to meaningful bowl games again.

I'm happy with the stability of a 7 year deal, for now. But I honestly haven't seen anything on buyout numbers anywhere and that's a problem we tend to have with these impulsive extensions (gene chizik + gus's first one).

Gus has proven he can make offenses work if he has the personnel at skill positions and an above average OL in 2013, 2014 and 2017. 2 out of 5 SECCG appearances and 1 conf champ / NCG appearance is not bad considering how big of a bust Jeremy Johnson and John Franklin turned out to be. Hopefully as he spends more time as a HC in college instead of highschool he'll get better at talent evaluation for quarterbacks. On top of that the defensive staff just needs to stay intact, and a HC change would probably fuck that up. Steele has done a damn good job and our D staff seems to be good at developing kids, outside of Byron Cowart :142smilie

Also I honestly couldn't have seen who we would have gotten to replace him that would be a "homerun hire." If we can keep the series's competitive year-in and year-out vs. LSU, UGA, and Bama - while beating the rest of the west pretty consistently, that's probably the best to ask for right now. Nobody is gonna come into Auburn and dominate Saban... just not gonna happen. Smart is off to a good start and is stacked with talent too. Just gonna have to deal with the fact that we have 2 tough games in November every year for a while. I don't think a Jimbo Fisher or anyone else would be much of an upgrade

If Gus has another big recruiting bust at QB and we have a string of 8-5 seasons, I hope that buyout isn't too high. Got to stop losing the games we're good enough to win.

I disagree slightly, it's a lot of fun to watch Ohio State get smoked on national TV. Like, one of the best days of the year. The excuse making from their fans is usually legendary!

Ok I?ll chime in. Huge OSU fan here, I thought they?d beat Wisconsin and still not deserve to get in. That Iowa loss was just too big. I thought the four teams that got in deserved it. I listened to you post about how everything was stacked for the Buckeyes and just wanted to tell you to stop, sometimes things work out like they?re supposed to. This is one of those times... :SIB
