Thanks EJ!

I already have a sizable bet on Alabama to win at Even money which I posted a while ago, so this is not a big bet, but combined it is plenty.

I also just put in:

Alabama TT Ov 41.5

I may like this even more, especially under 42, so I hit it hard. I think OSU will score plenty for Bama to have to keep scoring unlike the ND game where they held back. After sleeping on it, I think Alabama held back some on offense as to not show everything in the arsenal to the winner of the second game. I know it can sound a little crazy, but I think I am right. I think you will see a much more wide open passing game in the final versus what you saw against Notre Dame. This will be more like the Florida game with a couple miscues by OSU that allow Bama to cover.

Bama line moved already including the TT. Highly recommend getting the TT no higher than 42.

Not surprised at all to see Tom Herman fired at Texas. I thought his contract would save him for at least another year, but my guess is Sark told them he was taking a job and they did not want to lose him so they had to do it now. Probably got some donors to pay for it because it is going to cost them $25 million once you include the assistants. He was on his way out no matter what. Definitely one of the coaching moves that I was wrong about. I really thought he would make a difference at Texas but he really did nothing to improve this program. Apparently he is not a players coach, and unless you have the track record like Saban, you can not be an asshole to players anymore. They need to be coddled and feel the love.

I love reading all the BS from the schools, spokespersons, etc. My guess this has been a done deal for a while. Sark flat out refused Auburn so this is the job he targeted and he had to know it was coming. Plus, they basically fired Herman and hired Sark the same day. Great hire as long as he hires a great Defensive Coordinator because he does not coach the defense at all. Other assistants are so important in college also as they do most of the real recruiting anyway. Huge cost for Texas to do this, so they are putting a lot into this hire.

Here is what I learned the last few days:

Critics were right about Notre Dame and Kelly should stop crying and recruit better players

Dabo should have just kept his big mouth shut

Jimbo should stop whining because his team is not that great with that offense

Saban needs to remember that covering matters to his alumni

I still love Academy football teams

The Pac 10 still blows

And the NCAA has to adopt rules to force schools to announce injuries, opt outs, etc, in a timely matter since sports betting is legal many places. This is something I have been bitching about for a long time and they will have to address at some point.

As much as I dislike this playoff structure and even the selections this year, in the end, there was no real injustice because the two best teams in the country right now are playing for the national championship.

The bowls, of which most are terrible, will never go away because of money. The best solution is to add a play-in game. Seed the first 2 teams and have two games that produce the 3rd and 4th seed. Is there ever a year that there are really more than 6 teams that deserve consideration?

Crazy COVID year, but was one of my better ones in a long time.

All great points! And I'd definitely like to see either a wildcard round....3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5....play at the higher seed's home. I think 8 teams is better and the reason why is so you could have 5 conference champions and still have 3 at-large bids. And I don't know that teams really deserve a bye....I think you seed the 8 teams and play the first round at higher seed home...then do the "final 4" just like they're doing now.

My friend hates seeing Ohio St in there after playing 6 games. I said yeah I see that but look at it this way. They would have played 4 bad teams from the state of Ohio and played them all at home. They'd easily be 10-0 and everyone would think they were deserving.

On a random thought....is the Ivy League gonna play in the spring? If so, might be a fun little spring league that could get a lot of exposure and they might keep it in the spring. I've been thinking for a few years now that, what if Ivy League moved to spring as well as 8 more teams...Army, Navy, Air Force, and five more similar...maybe Vanderbilt...see if any division 1aa or 2 teams want to join, etc.

It would be like a really cool 16-team league and if nothing else just let the conference winners play for the spring title. They wouldn't have to compete w the rest of college football and we the fans would be treated to a lot of quality play from guys that love the sport. Just a thought.

guys i have long been a proponent of an 8 team playoff - go ahead and let in all the P5 champs, have 2 wildcard spots and reserve a spot for the GO5 - probably will never happen bc it makes too much sense, but win your conference and you're in and if you have a great year but lose a game or two in a really tough conference there's still a spot open for you - this also gives the little guys a chance for inclusion, and you can still use the New Years 6 bowls as the playoff locations

i'm a sucker for the traditional conference matchups in the big bowl games, but that has been wrecked already and the Rose Bowl was played in Texas this year for fuck's sake - miss the days of the big games being played on new years day, and you know the Cotton Bowl of the early 80's was rolling over in its grave the other night during that OU vs UF debacle, but that ship has sailed so let's make the NY6 bowls really matter again and the other bowl games have always been what they have been

we're really just adding one more week of play as well - play the quarterfinals on new year's day, make that a great CFB day again and get rid of the other games on that day - play the semis on the next logical weekend from there and then play the final on the next Monday night just like they do now

that would be exciting, and again makes all the bigger bowl games really matter again

LA Burns.....yep....I've been saying the same thing for years...prob decades, literally.

Many years ago I was in favor of a 12-team playoff. I still like it but it does take away from how important the entire season is. 6 is a good number but I just don't think it's enough and I also don't think teams need to get the advantage of a bye week w the current format. 8 seems great and yeah same thing, 5 conference winners. Win your conference and you're in.

I loved and have great but imperfect memories of the bowl tie-ins. Big 8 to the Orange Bowl...SEC to the Sugar. Of course the Big 10 and Pac 10 to the Rose. SWC to the Cotton. Fiesta could have anybody. And then I think the Citrus came around to New Year's Day back in the 80's.

It's great except when Nebraska and Alabama are both unbeaten and ranked 1 and 2 and can't play each other. But at the same time you had scoreboard watching and even style points. It was a system I hated to love and loved to hate I guess.

Like you say though....that ship has long sailed. Even w the horrible BCS....they put 1 vs 2 and took away so much from the system. In a way it was great but it was so in between....either keep the old or bring in an actual playoff. And now they have but 4 teams....you've got 5 power conferences....a few other conferences...and only 4 teams and on top of that, often multiple teams get in from the same conference.

8 would be perfect. But I do miss Keith Jackson calling the Rose Bowl late afternoon/early evening on the east coast. I miss starting the day off w the Rose Bowl Parade and then having the Cotton Bowl start things off. I miss switching channels b/t the Orange and the Sugar as one team needs to win but they also need the other to lose. Imperfect perfection but it was a lot of fun! But it's way past time for 8 teams in a true playoff.

The more the merrier. If I had my way, I would eliminate all the bowls and do what IAA does and have a 16-team playoff, but it will never, ever happen. Money rules in this country and the Bowls are all about money. New Year's Day used to be my favorite day of the year by far. Hungover, first game at 11:00 am EST and them games all day long. Absolutely loved it and have some great memories. Not even close to what it used to be.

6 or 8 is very doable, but I do not trust the NCAA to do anything right. One of the top three most corrupt organizations in sports!!

I love the Waddle angle in this game, and no matter what at this point, I do not think we will get a definitive answer as to whether he plays but it affects the game in any event. I definitely think they will keep it out there so Ohio State has to waste time game planning for him no matter what. At a minimum, I think he gets some plays even as a decoy. From everything I read, he will go if he can. If he is even at 80% I think it is a huge difference maker only because he has to be accounted for. People forget that he was the number 1 receiver to start the season and the second best WR on the team just won the Heisman. This offense is almost unstoppable as it is, if Waddle can contribute, they are unstoppable in my opinion.

I added to the Bama TT Ov 41.5 again today and will probably add again if I win some money in the NFL this weekend.

Knowing Saban if he thought Waddle was needed to beat N Dame he may could have played..

I've been going back and forth but just can't go against this Alabama team either. I've been saying for the last few weeks...this is the best Alabama team I've ever seen and so balanced on offense. I always mention Waddle and say how good they are even w/o him.

I think Clemson is damn good but we also found out just how weak the ACC is and we know historically what SEC vs Big Ten is.

I bought it down to 7...wish I had taken it a few days ago but oh well. Alabama -7 (bought 1 1/2)

I also think Ohio St can't do in the passing game what they did to Clemson and that injury Fields took might affect him tonight. Bama BIG. Not messing w the total...that's a lot of points. Alabama TT is one thing but total is another. I'll say Alabama 42 Ohio State 17

Good Luck Everyone!!

Good to hear TJ. World of difference to me between Bama and Clemson. I really think the key will be who can pressure the QB. Alabama's OL is significantly better than Clemsons, so I do not think they will have a lot of success getting to Jones without blitzing which then opens space in the secondary. Fields struggles under pressure. For some reason Clemson did not blitz much. I think Alabama comes after him. Should be an entertaining game.

Been combing through all these props. Most of the ones I like are high juice but here are a couple I played.

Fields Interception Ov .5 -190 - Would be really surprised if he does not throw an interception

Receptions by Metchie Ov 3.5 -175 - I think any defense has to double Smith if you are going to beat Bama so Metchie should get some man coverage and he is a very good receiver. Like it even more is we see Waddle.

Nice work Bason. I thought about it all day today and just couldn't go against this team I've been raving about all year. Your post confirmed my thoughts and made me put extra on it. My biggest bet of the season!

Good job on the TT as well. Did you get the other props? I'm exhausted now and don't want to go back and look haha. Great night for us!!

Thanks Gman and TJ!

As my Dad would say, its over sports fans!

Game went more or less exactly as I thought and ended what was one of the best NCAAF seasons I have had in a long time. Hope I helped some of you make some money this season. This one padded the bankroll for the soccer run this year. Come visit us in the soccer forum as we like to make money in there also.
