Batman Begins (2005)

This looks to be awesome. It is directed by Christopher Nolan, he of Memento/Insomnia fame. The script is by David Goyer (wrote Blade I, Dark City) based on Frank Miller's hell-cool Batman: Year 1 (or whatever it's called).

The casting is *awesome*. Christian Bale as Batman. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Ken Watanabe ("Katsumoto" from The Last Samurai)...I think this movie is going to rock.

My only issue is I keep going to these shows hoping they are different and more entertaining.

Spiderman: No
All of the Batmans: No
The X guys: So-So
HellBoy: Subpar

I wish I wouldn't go and save me some time, but it's just a hope. And I don't even like comic books. It must be a flaw!

I don't know what you expect from these movies, but here is my take:

Batman -- great
Batman 2 -- good
Batman 3 & 4 -- embarrassingly bad
Batman 5 -- very much looking forward to it

X-Men -- good movie, but there are too many characters to try and introduce. I think these movies will get better

X-Men 2 -- the introduction of Toad is tiptoeing the line of Ja Ja Biggs, but some of the other characters and the opening scene were fantastic.

Spider-Man -- good. really looking forward to the next one.

Hulk -- slightly below average

HellBoy -- haven't seen yet. I didn't read this comic growing up, but I will probably rent it when it comes out

Sequels Suck

As a rule of thumb....most sequels sucks....of course Godfather 2 was a classic......The 2nd Austin Powers blew....but Austin Powers 3 was the best of the series. How about the ill fated Jaws,Batman,Holloween,French Connection & Omen disasters.

You coudn't pay me enough to see these disasters. The original Batman series on TV was the best. As a rule of thumb...TV shows turned into movies are horrible.
