THIS YEAR: 185-127-9 (+123.85 units)
1 UNIT 7-7 (-.2 units)
2 UNIT 73-56-1 (+23.3 units)
3 UNIT 55-31-2 (+61.5 units)
4 UNIT 17-12-4 (+16.6 units)
5 UNIT 32-22-2 (+22.65 units)
Conference Tournaments 23-12 +29.8
NIT Tournament 1-6 -15.9 units
NCAA Tournament 13-12-1 -15.25 units
OUCH, I have lost over 30 units on the NCAA and NIT tourneys. Fortuanatly it's just a little more then what I won on the conference tournaments. Therefore my overall post season has not dipped too much into my season winnings. Anyway, now all that awaits us are the final 3 games to determine this years National Champion! 2 ACC teams, 1 Big 12 and 1 Big East. Only one #1 Seed, but two #2's and a #3. All four teams have very good point guards, play great defense and IMO are very well rounded clubs. 3 of the 4 coaches are guaranteed Legend Status (Sutton, Coach K, and Calhoun) and Hewitt is not far off the journey. I can think of several headlines for each team, BUT NONE in comparison to the all the corelations you can come up with involving Oklahoma States mascot (COWBOYS) and the city and state that is hosting this years Final Four (San Antonio, TEXAS). Many will write about the Cowboys ride to the Alamo! Now thats something I WILL BET ON!
Oh and those coaches I mentioned......Coach K has been to 10 final four's before this one, Sutton 3, Calhoun 2. Coach K has 3 NCAA Championships to Calhoun's one. Sutton is still searching for his first and Hewill......well he is a rookie to it all, but one that I think we will see plenty from in the future.
Many people share the opinion that The Duke-UConn game is the true national championship game. Many feel that the tournament should reseed once it gets to the Final Four. Andy Katz of ESPN did a great article on both these opinions. Here are some of his comments (which I agree with totally):
("One night. Two national semifinals. Four teams with the same opportunity to win the 2004 national championship.
So, let's dispense with any talk of one being the JV game and the other reserved for the varsity Saturday night. Let CBS bill Saturday's doubleheader as such. Let executives make the decision to show the 1999 title game rematch as Saturday's nightcap.
But don't even begin to throw out that the Final Four should be re-seeded. If Duke-Connecticut is what the masses want, well they will get it. It'll just come in the semifinals.
And, what's wrong with that?")
When it comes to capping, well here are a few things to think about.....Okl State averages more points then GTech, gives up less points on an average then GTech, has a better field goal percentage, 3 pt percentage, assists per game, and averages less turnovers per game then Gtech......They are equal in Free throw percentage and GTech averages 2 more rebounds per game then the Cowboys.
UConn averages more points per game then Duke, while Duke gives up less per game. The Huskies have a greater Field goal percentage, 3 Pt percentage, and average more rebounds and assist per game while comitting less turnovers. Duke has a better Free Throw percentage.
Oh, I almost forgot....go check all those stats out and you will find that the advantages in both games and almost every category are only have fractions of difference. The only differences above a fraction are Okie States pts allowed being 4 less then GTech's, UConn's rebounding being 8 more per game then Dukes and Dukes free throw percentage being 14 percent higher then the Huskies.......
Well, as you can see......WE WILL ALL HAVE OUR WORK CUT OUT FOR US IF WE ARE TO MAKE SOME MONEY ON THE FINAL FOUR. I am hoping to attend this year as I did two years ago. That year I hit all three games, last year I went 2-1!
Early leans have me on UCONN (money line) and Okie State (money line). But will look at many other things before making final decision......
What kind of condition will Okafor be in?
How about Duhon?
Or Elder?
HMMMMMMM, Okie State doesn't have any injury concerns?????
HMMMMMMM....
I am really feeling those future stories on the Cowboys riding into San Antonio to win at the Alamo!!!!

Besides, there is no reason to re-seed this year's Final Four. The committee's highest remaining seeds are on opposite sides of the bracket. Remember, on Selection Sunday it was Oklahoma State that was ranked as the best No. 2 seed -- not UConn.
So, re-seeding the Final Four would just mean Duke's semifinal foe would be ACC rival Georgia Tech, while the Cowboys and Huskies would play. Chances of a Duke-Connecticut title game would be a tossup at best.
