Agreed. I bet them (USC) pretty good last night and even stayed up here on the ECoast to watch them. They looked pretty good and may be peaking at the right time even though the next few games with CAL/ND will be very tough.

they were constructed to get better this year with their youth and injuries but they were also lucky they didnt lose one other game early on which would have eliminated them

Like I've said...I hope Mich/OSU loser is out.

Ark/Fla winner or USC/ND winner should prob. play for title. But, which one?

I'm hoping LSU beats Ark, then Ark beats Fla. Also hoping Rutgers loses a game.

But, if ND wins out, I think we'll see Mich/OSU rematch.

All I can say is that, under the format, I hope voters realize that the best thing to do is treat Mich/OSU as a playoff game. That makes it just a little more fair. Thats their chance to go to NC game. Don't give loser a 2nd chance.

As ND fan, I have no problem with USC, Ark, Fla, or Rutgers playing for NC. Just don't want to see Mich/OSU rematch.

:spotting: :spotting: :spotting:

That is why all programs should play a tough schedule year in year out. CONTROL YOUR OWN DESTINY!

RUTGERS????

I think the computers value "WINS" and Rutgers has nothing but W's. If Rutgers loses 1 game they prob. will jump far back.

I hope USC doesnt get into the title game, as I think OSU would beat them rather easily. ND's defense is terrible and would get torched by OSU just like last year. If there was truly a year to have a playoff this is the year because outside of OSU and Mich all the remaining contenders have suspect holes. As I stated before, the only team that I matches up well with OSU would be LSU but that is not an option at this point.

Wow Rutgers is 6th thanks to some bumbling idoit teams over the weekend.
Realize this. If Rutgers wins out then they will play for the BCS Title if:
Cal or UCLA beats USC.
USC beats ND.
Ark. loses to LSU then beats Florida.

The above can happen easy.

All that said. I think Rutgers will go down to WVU.Hell maybe even to Cincy.

Then where does that leave us.
Mich/OSU rematch??
Boise St.? Just kidding.

1) Why not, you can make ($$$) BIG BUCKS ($$$) betting on Ohio St.

2) YOUR prediction would be the first time EVER a Pete Carroll team gets beat easily.

then why was rutgers 9th last week?

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE! Beating an undefeated Louisville gave Rutgers the big jump. But I am willing to bet if Rutgers loses a game, they will jump far back. Prob. behind most 1 loss teams.

The thing that gets me is this...

Yes, USC had a tough schedule this year, out of conference.
But, lets look at it carefully.

Arkansas, a very average SEC team. They turned out to be very good this year.

Nebraska. Again, a very average team last decade. Turned out to be good.

Notre Dame. Turned out to be very good, but was average when game was scheduled.

What I'm saying is that you can't really predict who's going to be good when you schedule games.

Not only that, this could be looked at a lot like FSU during the '90s.

Seminoles had the perfect strategy to win nat'l champ. in the 90s. Play 2 really good out of conf. games. Play in a weak conf.

So, every year, they were ranked in top 5. Didn't matter if they won/lost early non-conf. powerhouse. They would drop a little. Then dominate ACC. By the time they played FLA, they were back in top 3, and if they beat FLA they played for nat'l title.

Everyone thought FSU was so good, but they played in a crap conf. This is coming from a UNC fan.

To sum it up, we need a playoff.

I believe USC scheduled Nebraska series h/h the year Nebraska went to the BCS NC game against Miami. Nebraska this year is a quality team. USC scheduled Ohio St. for 2008/2009 after OSU went to the BCS NC against Miami. ND is a rivalry and is played every year and ND at the very least is a quality opponent year in year out.

2 years ago USC played @V-Tech on last minute deal.

POINT IS.........

If you schedule WESTERN KENTUCKY 4 years in advance, I think you have a pretty good idea they will be $HITTY! :142smilie

Schedule Miami 4 years in advance right now, I think you can bank on them being a very tough OOC opponent. Schedule Miami Ohio 4 years in advance, prob. not as tough of an OOC opponent.

i just think that anything that has rutgers the #2 team in the country right now is flawed....ahead of ohio state? really????

i'd bet the line would be osu -17+ at a neutral site

TDJ - I stil don't understand your thinking. You are basically saying that the loser of MI/OHState doesn't deserve a second chance, due to losing the last week of the season to the #1 team (the winner will be #1).... you are calling it a playoff game, rather than the regular season game that it is...

Your reasoning is that "they have their chance by winning that game".... couldn't the same argument be made for ND, being able to even be in the game with Michigan at home? That was their chance, and they got blown out big time.

Same goes for USC - winning against an unranked team on the road is a must, and losing that game should take away their chance at a NC>

Couldn't the MI/ND game be considered a playoff game? Just because they played earlier in the season shouldn't matter. It is still a loss in the standings - in fact a 26 home field loss.

Same goes for USC-Oregon State... although it could hardly be considered a "playoff game", when Oregon State is not even ranked...

For the life of me, I don't see how they could ever take USC with a loss to unranked Oregon State over Michigan/Ohio State loser, with their only loss to the #1 team in the nation....

But then again, these polls don't seem to make a lot of sense, do they?
