Considering all of the talk here, the preliminary BCS rankings are rather than interesting. obviously the computers see things MUCH differently than the humans.

http://grjash.netfirms.com/bcs/bcs_rankings.html

For you lazy people (and you know who you are):

1. Ohio Stae

2. USC

3. Florida

4. Michigan

5. Texas

6. Louisville

7. Tennessee

8. Notre Dame

9. West Virginia

10. Auburn

Notably Boise is in at 13 - if the get to 12 they go to a BCS bowl.

And sure doesnt look good for West Virginia.

The #9 team is the best team on that list and its a damn shame they wont get a shot to prove it.

well when you play a weak schedule you'll get left out ...Ask Auburn.

I anticapate that all BCS teams will have 1 loss
if so Texas would benefit from that the most.

It will be turmoil come selection sunday...
albeit still much football to be played

WV and the Big East still getting stung by the conference taitors that were bought by the ACC.

Couple that with some former semi-powerful members having down years (Pitt, Syacuse) granted Pitt is doing better, and look at Rutgers.

Prior to the mass exit WVU was a regular at the top of the Big East and still is, along with Louisville.

Difficult to create a schedule that could compare to ND in the few years since they (miami, V-Tech, and BC) flew the coup.

Not many BIG name teams want to have WV on their OOC schedule, but sure WV would welcome a home and home series with any of them.

I'm just saying its not exacty all WVU's fault that their schedule is weak, although all of the top teams have a few powder puffs on their schedules every season.:SIB

WVA fans wont like it but they frankly just have to suck it up, know it is bs and do a Fresno and simply agree to play on the road. Sure teams should get home and home, but to me it isnt an excuse not to schedule. You want to be on top playing for a title or do you care more about the cash? If the latter then they shouldnt bitch.

I dont think the WV team or coaching staff is bitching, at least I havent heard it yet. They've done exactly what any other Top 5 team wouldve have done against those same opponents. If not a little better.

Who did West Va dodge? Just wondering.

Would VaTech play West Va in Blacksburg?

Agree. You gotta get a marquis road win before you bitch. Go to the swamp and get a W, Mounties.

Man, I wish they were playing a schedule full of top 20 teams.

Unfortunately thats not todays reality, the almighty dollar controls.

I'm sure WVU could still get big dollars traveling to the big schools, heck they would be on national tv every weekend.

I'm not bitching about anything yet, and may not in the end. I realize the schedule is weak and we should roll MOST everyone. Louisville is the most credible team on their schedule, after that game we will all know truely where WVU stands.

Till the end the only thing they can do is win win win and then wait to see where they end up.

Don't let your feeling of WVU allow you to miss the money making opportunities, they have covered most of their last 10 or 11 games.

I would imagine WVU would have an extremely hard time finding a top level BCS conference team to host them in the near future. Its a "no win" for the host team. If you win, its because "WVU was a fraud". If you lose, well, you lose.

To West Virginia

To West Virginia

This is coming from an Auburn fan, but I think it is a fair statement. I am not at all saying they are not a top ranked team, but play your tough games first. If you beat Louisville and Rutgers then you have at least 2 quality wins. Do not compare your schedule to Auburn in 2004 since they beat V Tech (10, all rankings are AP at end of the year), Tennessee twice (13), UGA (7), LSU (16) and Alabama that year. Alabama, UT, UT, and V Tech were all on the road or neutral sites. Thats a pretty fair schedule to complain about not getting a chance for the game.

Wasn't Va.Tech in the Sugar Bowl? So that particular game wouldn't have had any affect on playing in the title game. Nonetheless, it was a shame OU got in instead of Auburn.

I am agreeing we got screwed. I am just saying wait until you win your big late season games at West Virginia until you put up a fuss.

Sure, they haven't got screwed yet, unless the rankings start paying the higher you are. Nothing matters till all games are played then we can kick it around for a month or so., but our schedule is nowhere close to being as tough as many top ten teams, so they will have to meet the challenges they have and see where we end up.
