how's the non-smoking going?

i just fought off the 'after dinner' urge. not so bad.

it's day 25. not really getting any easier. no change since about day 5. i get about 8-10 urges per day that last about 5 minutes.

in 25 days at about a $7.50 per day savings, you'd think i'd notice the extra bucks in my pocket but i don't. where the hell is that money anyway

i think i'm gaining weight but haven't weighed in yet. been eating a lot more though.

had 3 drinking days in the last 3 weeks and got thru those without lighting up. that's amazing to me.

can't believe i got this far. maybe i'll make it afterall.

thanks for starting this, bear.

Jack Are you using the gum or any aids?If it wasn't for the gum not sure I could make it.
Might end up being addicted to the gum but can handle that.Toughest time for me is in early am drinking coffee and sitting in front of computer. It should be getting easier on you.Got something I clipped out of paper I'm sending to you.Next time you get the urge read it.

it won't get any better unless balt can upset.

you don't want to hear about my bad habits (no, no dope or drinking, or women)

work, smoking and gambling, in that order, and too much of them. my consolation is that work comes before gambling, no work, no gambling. smoking? i'm past that stage.

stick with it, but you must control your weight. otherwise, if one won't kill you, the other one will. and there is nothing better for an early grave than being a fat smoker.

i'm already in the middle of that argument with a little voice in my head. i'll worry about the weight later if it becomes a problem. least, that's what i'm sayin now

Hey Guys,
Just getting back to normal after recent events. Glad to hear you are still successful in this battle and I'm still gettin it done as well. I used the weight thing as my excuse to go back 1st time I quit ..............wont do that again. thats why I'm liftin and walking now...its good for my diabetes and weight control. It gives me a better feel for total health than just quitting the cigarettes.
Hey Jack...I'm still getting the urge after 2 months and I'd actually like to smoke right now...cause I'm entertaining the thought....but thats drugs bro! It aint smoke! Like you ...I went "cold turkey" so I dont mind if I get a temptation now and again. Ya really just have to convince yourself that this is NOT negotiable and NOT an issue any more. ITS OVER! And now I'm gonna do all that I can to avoid coronary bypasses, emphysema and lung cancer....I've been a sinner for too long against this body and if I did not do it this time.. I knew trouble would be just around the corner.
By comparison to July....I feel f-----g fantastic! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! It aint over! It continues to get easier and you'll continue to feel better....(less coughing, throat clearing etc. Stay strong....this drug continues to talk to ya but its voice gets much quieter and doesnt come around nearly as often.
DTB....good stuff...I'm convinced!
Have a good one guys!

Good for you guys!!! On May 1st, 1999, after
losing my job, I went thru some serious self
evaluation and with much motivation quit
smoking and dipping Skoal cold turkey. I've
been free of tobacco ever since. It isn't
even a thought any more. I take that back,
occassionaly see some one smoking or dipping
and say to myself, "boy am I glad I don't do
that anymore". You just have to keep telling
yourself it's over, it's not an option. It
eventually gets easier until you reach a
point to where it doesn,t phase you anymore.
Keep it up, you'll make it!!!!!!
