I live in Chicago about 10 mins from Ohare.

Tank would never be in Gurnee if it wasn't for the NFL checks clearing. I'd see him on an off ramp when I go to the Indy casinos.

We really don't want librarians playing D line for the Bears lol. There are a couple characters on that defense from the dark side. We may hear more about them in the future if there are more L's than W's.

I guess crime must be non-existant in Chicago because the top priority of the police is to raid a football player's house for some pot and a few handguns. Well done boys in blue. Nevermind the thousands of unsolved murders, car thefts, rapes, etc...we gotta keep nfl players from smoking pot in the "privacy" of their own homes.

Gurnee is almost an hour north of Chicago

Gurnee is Mayberry RFD compared to Chicago

Was thinking the same thing. A lot of hooplah for a little bit of stuff. unless some of the guns are dirty.

just to close things a bit here and I'm not intending this thread to become "USC like":scared ......

Tank, or at least his house, was under investigation for the last 6 to 8 weeks. I guess those investigating had gone through his garbage at times. Tank is from Gary Ind. If you are not familiar with this dump, do a google of it. It has to be right up there with DC and the other fine dump New Orleans as far as murder numbers and/or various felonies/assaults committed. I guess Tank or someone else was out in the yard on occasion taking out birds and whatever with their various weapons. I would imagine the searches of the garbage by the experienced law authorities gave indication of weapons and/or drugs. I don't see an idiot like Tank or his bro from the hood being sharp enough to dispose of empty casings or evidence of drug use in a wise manner. Gurnee Il isn't the country. It's has quite a population and is growing. It is the location of one very large mall and one very large Six Flags theme park, as well as a ton of car dealerships and a multitude of other regular sized malls. You don't go out in the yard and shoot off weapons of any sort. The Bears are saying they have talked a number of times to all of their players about staying out of all kinds of trouble. Still, Gurnee is a pimple on the ass of a massive city like Chicago were there are raids such as this on a daily bases. Whole units exists solely for this purpose. This could have been handled differently and maybe it would have been if certain conditions didn't exist. Tank is currently on parole for an EXISTING gun charge. He is a very large man that has ALREADY recently been charged with assaulting a Chicago police officer (officer dropped the charges). There was at least one other dope, maybe two, with whatever fine backround they have. Throw in the number and type of guns, the drugs, the criminal history, whatever number of people were in the house, the police out in this town that don't generally deal with this type episode, they decided to bring the cavalry through his back door. Right now, the Bears are under scrutiny as to whether or not they will list him as inactive. This may not be cleared up until this season is over and may spill into next year. The Bears really can't do anything else, that is if they wanted to do anything at all. It's going to come down to a public pressure type thing. A couple have players have already voiced some decent as to their opinion on Tank.

The real demon for Tank is the Cook County States Attorney and how he decides to handle the existing probation on the earlier gun charge. I hope they handle it aggressively.

It's come out that the other dope arrested at Tank's house on a drug charge already has a serious criminal history. He says he's Tank's bodyguard.

Did the Gurnee police ever say why they had just cause to search the house?

I've got a story re: the Gurnee police. A couple of years ago I dated a woman who was from near Gurnee (Vernon Hills). She got pulled over by a Gurnee cop and was asked to do a breathalyzer. She "blew" a 0.065 which is legal but they still arrested her for a DUI. She had to fight it and ran up over $3500 in legal bills to get it dismissed.

Johnson won't suit up for Bears on Sunday

By RICK GANO, AP Sports Writer
December 15, 2006

LAKE FOREST (AP) -- Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson will sit out Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, one day after he was charged with possessing firearms without proper identification.

Coach Lovie Smith said he wasn't punishing Johnson but was picking the players who give the NFC North champion Bears the best chance to win.

Johnson practiced Friday and held a brief news conference, apologizing to his teammates and family.

"I hate to be a deterrent from all the good that's going on here at Halas Hall," the nose tackle said.

General manager Jerry Angelo said the Bears were embarrassed by the latest incident involving Johnson.

"He's had now a history of doing things," Angelo said. "That history has got to stop."

It is the third legal run-in for the Bears' 2004 second-round draft pick.

In November 2005, Johnson was sentenced to 18 months' probation and 40 hours community service after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge stemming from an arrest in which a nightclub valet reported seeing Johnson with a handgun in his sport utility vehicle.

Johnson also was arrested last February after a confrontation outside a Chicago nightclub, but the charges were dropped after the police officer he allegedly scuffled with decided not to pursue the case.

Gurnee police executed a warrant and searched Johnson's home Thursday, finding six guns.

Two of the weapons seized were assault-style rifles, an AR-15 and a .223 caliber, said Gurnee Police Chief Robert Jones. Three were powerful handguns -- a .44 Magnum, a .50 caliber, and a .45 caliber -- and one was a .308 Winchester hunting rifle, Jones said.

Police said during the search they also found 2 ounces of marijuana and arrested Willie B. Posey, 26, on a count of felony cannabis possession. Posey's relationship with Johnson was not immediately clear. Jones said Posey lived at the house.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Friday the situation would be reviewed under the terms of the league's personal conduct policy.

Johnson is due in court Jan. 9, which would be several days before the Bears' first playoff game. They have a bye in the first round.

Thanks Cisley

I'd like to think that the Bears would act in this fashion even if they were 8-8 with a game against Indy, instead of playing some scrub they should destroy anyway. (NOT)

That GM does not fvck around though.
