In my continuing quest to discuss sports here at madjacksports:

Congratulations Bears fans your new quarterback will be Kordell Stewart or Jeff Blake. It seems that Denver will hold onto Griese until someone pennies up a draft pick. Chicago said no (my guess is Griese will fall to Ariz.).

So, Bears fans you get a choice Dumb or Dumber. Both of your choices are aging "mobile" quarterbacks that have experienced great embarrassment on the field in recent years. Lets rehash some of this shall we?

First there is the Beauty Queen Himself. Kordell Stewart.

Known for making poor decisions on the field (like the one in the above pic). Kordell doesn?t like the harsh criticism the head coach Bill Cower gave him on the sideline. He was replaced twice in his career the first time (1999) after going 6-10 and last season he was exchanged for a journeyman X-XFL player who took the team on his back and put them in the W column.

Kordell played in 8 games last year. He threw 6 picks and 6 TD?s. For his career he has thrown 72 ints and only 70 interceptions. He has an impressive 82.8 QB rating. Impressive only because 82 closely matches my handicap.

Labeled ?never won a big one? he has had flashes of glory including a MVP season and a trip to the Pro-Bowl. But his Jeckel-Hyde act seems to be too much Hyde and not enough Jeckel.

Definitely the Jeff Daniels of this duo, Jeff Blake

Jeff Blake has always been a sidekick. This perennial fan favorite (aka backup quarterback) has rarely put together an entire season. Blake has been in the NFL for 11 years. Yes, I said 11 years, he spent 6 years as a Bengal that?s why it seems he isn?t that old. Blake has only played every game of the season twice during his tenure as a NFL QB. Those two years were good years (?95 & ?96) too bad he played for the Bengals. Everywhere else he has gone he has played second fiddle. Last year he was spotty with injuries that have riddled his career. His QB rating is 77.3 , damn good handicap.

Blake does have a nice arm. He will throw the ball very far down the field. The ball may bounce 10-20 yards from the receiver but it?s fun to see the ball get thrown like that.

jk.

Bears are in the same position they've been for years and the present management doesn't want to take a chance with a high draft pick.

I would say both Stewart and Blake are out because they are too inconsistent. Look for a no-frills veteran who can hold onto the job and the ball for a year or two until they "groom" someone who they select in the third or fourth round.

Bears won't be good until the next decade.

Bank on Banks

Bank on Banks

BBC..I agree the are looking for a "holdover" not a "savior". I believe they want both a new coach and a new QB in the next 3 years.

If I had to choose (money issues aside) I would pick Banks. He seems like more of a control type QB. Plus he has less mental baggage than Stewart.
