I'll do weekly Beat the Pro updates on Thursday night/Friday morning since the last day of the contest, April 1, is a Thursday.

Beat the Pro standings

Outside of myself (ND) and the Pro, Square Guru (SG) and Lafe Merchant (LM) have decided to sack up and test their skills as well. Obviously it is way too early to judge anything very precisely. Two things I will say are that I think all participants started off with lower results than we would have expected and also that Lafe Merchant and Square Guru are making picks at an extremely fast rate and at this pace will burn through their 100 selections less than half way through the contest.

Remember the rules of the contest are that *exactly* 100 picks are to be made up until and including April 1st and the person with the highest Best Bettor balance wins our agreed-upon prize.

So you are in a contest with the Pro who you won't name playing for a undisclosed amount of winnings.

Never heard of that kind of contest before but leave it to
you I guess.

the Pro couldnt be ND playing opposite himself could it ?

If it is your kicking your own butt right now!

Lafe and Square joined on their own. They are not part of the prize but they are just testing their skills. My post about 100 picks was more of a reminder in case they forgot that there is a limit on picks as well as a time limit.

The reason for not disclosing the Pro's name should be obvious. Mad Jack's is not a site that is friendly to services and I am sure Jack would not appreciate it if I were splattering the name of a service all over his site. As far as the prize being undisclosed, that is just my decision. And even if we were playing for $100 or even $500, what's the difference. Being able to say you were the winner is much more important in contests like this than a little bit of cash in my opinion. I mean, you are talking about the cash value of a single play (or less) for either of us so whatever we play for the bragging rights are what is important. That's why it still steams me that yyz pulled out our previous contest

It was a reminder to them huh. If they are not part of the prize then who cares how fast they bet.

Maybe the Pro can turn it around soon. If not it would be better
for the Pro to be nameless. Can't blame the Pro for going incognito. Maybe if a few more of the services would not hide their records, it would be a much easier road for them.

I heard a rumor it was Scott4USC.
And as Loyd Benson once said he aint no Pro ! but he did anty up the 500 so that has to count for something.

.......................................................................................

"I also want to make clear the yyz won the contest fair and square, and that I am not complaining about the fact that he won despite winning about half the units I did based on average wager size. He played the smarter contest and we both knew the rules of the game coming in. "ND

..............................................................................

Nick

I can't help but comment what you posted in the yyz contest. First your helping yyz with his plays coaching him on the sidelines. Where is your killer instinct. If your going to play go
for the damn cash...!

Then when you lose fair and square you come up with this weak excuse about winning half the units. Seems like I remember you
saying final money count wins. And you guaranteed a one thousand dollar end result.

If you both knew the rules then what were you crying about?

I am sorry to say you are the epitome of a classic loser. I am surprised that yyz let this pass as it was weak and low after the fact. He usually says something.

Then yyz comes in on the last play to win. And he wins on a mistake play he put in trying for the over he typed in the under.

Maybe he should make all his plays like that. Just go opposite.
That would be too much like his coin flipping though.

good luck either whatever

KOD,

You're a non-handicapper who used to idolize me (I'll spare you the embarassment of posting the emails) but got mad when I posted some negative things towards you in the forum. As usual you took my earlier post about yyz out of context. Read the whole post. You will see that I was merely pointing out that, while yyz did win fair and square, my point that handicapping will beat flipping a coin is still valid.

Here is my request (yet again). Stay out of my threads. If you see my name as the topic starter on a thread, just don't open it and stay out. Thank you.

I did look up to you at one time. But you went kinda whacky
out in left field with some non logical thinking that resulted in long losing streaks. And you seem to hide things alot which does get to me.

Can't remember you posting anything negative about me.

Not sure how you can call anyone a non handicapper. You have proven what kind of capper you are over time.

Maybe we could work out a contest as I doubt if beanhead
would participate head to head. he is broke anyways.

If yyz can beat you making mistakes on his plays, I think you
might be ripe for another big loss.

You know what. I think I hit the nail on the head.

BeatthePro is none other than Scott4USC.

wow

Well, I would maybe say something to an ass-wipe such as yourself.

What would you have me do, rub his nose in it? It was a lousy 30 game match over a two week period. Hell......even you might have maintained a .500 record over that span. There is really no skill involved in a contest such as this, IMO. Much like a blackjack tourny, you play the competition, not the cards. I did what was neccessary to beat Nick. That meant betting the games with the best shot at getting me points. (High favorites when we were close, and high dogs when he had the big lead.)

I think a more complete test of one's skills would be to format your plays with a decent write up as to why you like the play. If the play hits, you get a couple points for the win in general. The loin's share of the points would come from your critique of the game versus it's outcome. (It would invovle some pretty complex judging by an impartial group.)

Please feel free to take another couple of weeks off........

Jimmy,

*If* I agreed to play you for cash money it would have to be a dime at least. A shootout would be OK but probably Jack would not like that type of illegal gambling going on on his site. If you get it O.K.ed with Jack I would be more than willing to put up a Ben Franklin for a shootout.

Ok then lets just wait until Nick polishs off Scott4USC
in his BeatthePro contest. The way I look at it is I don't care
if I take a dime from offshore or out of Nicks pocket. Its all
the same to me.

Nick had to get someone that he trusted for his contest so who better than the guy that gave him 500 bills for free.
I didn't think that Scott4USC had a service though. But the two
of them sure aint denying anything. Silence speaks truth.

I warned him payback would be hell taking this blood money from
Scott4USC. Now look where it has gotten him.

USC blood is thicker than water.

I grin when I win
