Al Gore running for President again. Talk about someone who can't win, and he and Hillary will just kill each other. The Dems continue to amaze me in the uncanny ability to shoot themselves in the foot.

They See Al Gore by a Nose in 2008
Is Al Gore coming back? If allies we talked to have their way, the former veep will be the next president. "It's Gore Time," says a political strategist and fundraiser who is opening a bid to get Gore into the race. Gore friends see his recent political and business moves as proof he's preparing to run. Allies say that in speeches, Gore has found his voice to address domestic and world issues. And in raising money for his Current TV network, which targets the critical youth market, Big Al has built an issue base and donor network that's competitive with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton 's. Our source--a top aide in the previous Bush administration--is planning meetings with Gore's team to push an early entry while Clinton runs for re-election in New York. It doesn't end there: The Gorebots want him to pick Sen. Barack Obama, the youthful Illinois African-American, as his No. 2.

Al Gore=joke and a vote from me for ANYBODY that runs against him from the Republican party. Give us a choice not a go-against!!

I can't believe that in the end, Al Gore will be the name left standing. It has to be a draw in some ways to nominate a man who beat Bush in popular vote in the last election, though, knowing how far Bush has fallen in current public opinion on job performance.

Obama would be an interesting choice for VP...what a dynamic voice considering current conditions. Maybe just a little soon for him, though?

I think McCain would be a formidable force with the right VP running mate, no matter who gets the democratic nod. I think there are a lot of Democrats who think McCain has some intelligence and common sense...unlike present company...

it's the same old math. Whoever the dems run have to win every state Kerry won AND Ohio or Florida. Those choices wont get that done.

Obama could NEVER make it as high as VP. Not because he's black, but because of his friggin name! It will always remind people of Osama. We're talking about a country that some of the 2000 Bush voters thought they were voting his dad.

I doubt many dems have a chance as long as Jeb is running Florida. However, with Katherine Harris busy having her own election fixed, maybe a few votes could slip by...

I don't agree with this, but it is an interesting take. The name thing surely will be an issue for focus groups and image consultants.

The scary thing is the second part of your post. I would agree that many of those same people who didn't know the difference between Bushes would never vote for a black or a woman - no matter what the name is.

Obama will probably be the nominee in 2012 assuming Dems lose in 2008.

And chances are he gets drubbed by just about any Republican with a pulse.

Nah, the world is changing. If generousity is the most blatant form of racism, guilt is the panacea. Every Black on the planet will register to vote as well as guilty Whites. Throw in like amounts of Independents and worn out republicans.

i wouldn't be surprised if gore ran again....but, imo al gore is the worst politican in this country in the last 20-30 years....as evidence by him blowing the 2000 presidential election.

it would be interesting to see him fighting it out with hilliary for 2008.

Maybe if he was moderate. But not being that liberal. When we have a black President I fully expect it will be a Republican.

I still want Biden Or Evan Bayh (spelling)

Firmly believe Gore and Kerry will run.. I can't vote for hillary unless she runs against frist.

Would love for the dems' to start labeling repubs as radical right wingers or neocons as much as the neocons use Liberal as if were a disease.

Whoever the Dem is, they are going to have to be sharp, loud speakers. They need to be louder than Fox News. They'll need to dumb themselves down a bit and be tough with everything they say. Whatever their platform is - it almost doesn't matter - simply by being Democrat they will already have 2 strikes against them when it comes to terrorism and defense (no matter how underserved that may be). Of course they still need to be controlled - we don't want another Dean type meltdown.

8 years of this bullshite administration will have taken it's toll. It may not really matter who wins next. Some things are on course now that won't be changed with a new president.

Smurph you are generally correct. Dems are just so stupid - the "party" I mean. You cant put Dean in charge and expect good things to happen. The Dems need a moderate conservative from the South who can actually make people get past D v R. They cant beat the Republicans at their own game, but the "L" word guys are the kiss of death.

Speaking of Fox news--Kerry's failure to come on probably was big factor in his loss. While many of candidates and even Clinton will appear on Greta or Combs without Hannity present they don't want the tough non-canned questions on prime time.Quite a few on the right don't want any part of them either-----

Happy Ninth Birthday, FOX News!

Tuesday, October 11, 2005

By Bill O'Reilly

Happy ninth birthday, FOX News Channel: that is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo."

Business Week reports that New York Times editor Bill Keller said that this network's fair and balanced slogan is "the most ingeniously cynical slogan in media marketing."

Now we all know Keller and The Times resent FOX News, because we keep an eye on them. The recent Geraldo fracas pretty much defines The New York Times. It took them three weeks to correct an obviously bogus story.

But imagine a country without the FOX News Channel, where The Times and other committed left wing newspapers, along with CNN and the network news divisions, pretty much set the information agenda in the USA. Imagine that scenario.

Conservatives and traditional Americans would be almost completely shut out. Nine years ago in 1996, FOX News began with few million subscribers. Ted Turner tried everything to kill us, including keeping us out of New York City and other major markets, but we prevailed.

And now, we not only beat CNN, but all the other cable news channels combined. Obviously millions of Americans and folks all over the world like this network, but Bill Keller and his pals hate us even on our birthday.

The reason is that fanatical partisans don't want diversity of opinion or spirited debate. They only want to hear their own beliefs echoed. Anything else they attack.

Maria Arana, an editor at The Washington Post says, "The elephant in the newsroom is our narrowness. Too often, we wear liberalism on our sleeve and are intolerant of other lifestyles and opinions. We're not very subtle about it at this paper: If you work here, you must be one of us. You must be liberal, progressive, a Democrat."

Well, Ms. Arana is telling the truth. But The Washington Post at least tries to be fair on its news pages. And the other papers don't even fake it.

Here at FOX News, we employ all kinds of people. My staff's about equally divided between conservatives and liberals. The propagandists on the left, however, would have you believe we are group think Republicans.

So I have a question for them. What do Tom DeLay, Vice President Cheney, Louis Freeh, Samuel Brodman and Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff all have in common? Well, they're all Republicans. And they all will not come on ?The Factor?.

Why? Most of them are afraid of the questioning, that's why. And if we were shilling for the right, why would they be afraid?

So happy birthday to us. It has been said that a person is defined by the caliber of his or her enemies. If that's true, FOX News is in pretty good shape at nine years old.

And that's "The Memo."

on same tangent while I did not see follow up on 60 minutes topic of Clinton anywhere else this week Oreilly had one quest to give opinion and it was very liberal Lanny (forgot last name) from Clinton camp and while he did not let him submit the spin he was trying to apply he did agree that disgruntled employees--writing books--with un named sources leaves lots to be desired--and noted Freeh (spl) was invited but declined--would have liked to see that interview.

Is he the deviant that had to buy his way out of prison for making obscene phone calls? That name sound familiar.
