beer room advice

guys, we are soon to build a house. there will be a 11'x20' room upstairs devoted to sports. anyone who has such a room, or has built something like it i would appreciate advice. ideas? the walls will be lined with the plaques,etc. probable big screen and pool table, darts. does anybodby else have a "sports bar" in their home. all input welcome.

since you are on the second floor be sure to BOLT the TV down in case you are tempted to throw it out the window during upcoming football season.;)

soundproof it the best you can including inbetween the floor joist. I also built my TV & sat reciever and sound system into the wall so I didn't need a entertainment center. Also knocked out sections of the wall and built into a recessed trophy case with glass shelves......Best of luck..............

This one is pretty specific to guys who smoke cigars, but if thats at all the case you can have a humidor built right into the wall of the room so it takes up no space in the room at all. Again, if you do happen to smoke cigars and since you'll be on the second floor a vent system to keep the air clean would be easy to install as well.

Otherwise you would be suprised what they can do as far as building in spaces for a small fridge, cutout for the TV, etc..

m' fer - the jokes are killing me. the urinal is a nice touch, but we rednecks can just pee right out the window with out even pissing on the bricks. it is an event at the redneck olympics.... we have a seed spitting competition as well. my personal favorite - who can drink a 6 pack the quickest with a full dip in his lower lip is my specialty. :)


volvan - we will not paint the room orange under any cicumstances - unless it is gator orange :)

about the tv out the window... this can not happen because it will F'ck up a great window unit on the way out :cursin:

p.s. Elvis provides no un-truth.... All rednecks are prepared to piss anywhere..at anytime...under any circumstances. I watched a "buddy" piss on the plastic pink flamingo in front of the Hilton in Vegas at 2 in the morning, which might seem like a novel feat in other cities, but the streets were packed and we were promptly escorted "inside" the casino to the blackjack table where 2 other friends were....oh well, anyway, rednecks will piss anywhere. :) :mj07: :mj14:

I didn't know this about you, forget the cigar idea, perhaps some lawn chairs, a few rolls of duct tape, a shotgun rack and one those big moose heads from an animal you didn't really kill would go better in this particular room. :scared

taoist, get my email from jack if you want it. we need to get together with wareagle in tunica if we can....i really want the bar plans. the wife is an avid tiger fan and there is no orange in our house at all. except for the gator memorabila.


penguin, the humidor was a good idea. :)

i no longer dip because it is bad for me:(

i have enjoyed the responses. i have been all over the web scanning for ideas,etc.

thanks doc. also, i would love to see pictures when you are done. we have not had the house built yet so i have options. we should sit with the builder in the next week. what are you doing to the floor - if anything.

Make sure you put "channeling" on your ceiling below this room. You can sound proof all you want, but without this, the area below this room will always sound like Hussiens bunker during a big game :scared
I have many other ideas if you want my email from Jack.........
