I'm guessing there are a few who remember this game - and still might play it. Can't imagine how many hours I spent on this in my younger days - still the best sports game ever invented for my money.

My favorite memory: Playing my good friend who was a great strategist. We had all-star teams in baseball, had a 0-0 game going into the bottom of the 9th inning. Rickey Henderson got on for me via a walk from Nolan Ryan (who was pitching a perfect game at the time). I proceded to have him steal 2nd, 3rd, and home to win the game.

Everything that was anywhere close to the game board, including it, the dice, split cards, all the player cards, and my friend's hat were thrown wildly around the room, with him screaming at the top of his lungs.

True fun.

There are still many who play this...I know one guy who goes to the annual convention.

I remember my brother and I played in the 70's. We anticipated the juiced ball and juiced player eras by making it an automatic home run whenever double sixes were rolled.

I loved that game as a kid. I started playing in the 60's. I remember waiting for the mailman to bring new teams. I think they were like 35 cents a team back then.

WOW, here's a blast from the past !

I played and played and played this game back in the 70's. Split all the teams into my own divisions, and even had 2 conferences I called the "Clemente" Conference and the "Campanella" Conference.

Never had a no-hitter, or a 4 HR game, but did have Chet Lemon hit 5 doubles in 1 game............which has never been done in the Majors.

Probably played over 3,000 games in the basement with those dice.

Also got into the NFL Stratomatic game and played many seasons, and a pile of double knockout tournaments with those teams. Set up my own FG chart so that a 64 yard FG was possible (the record was and still is 63, I believe) and a few kickers tried it, but never hit one.

In my 30's and 40's, an old college buddy that I would see about once every 2 years and myself started what we called a "Decade Long Best of 7 Tournament". I was up 3 games to 2, when we lost track of it, after about 12 years.

My brother got into the NHL version, but that was not for me.

Great memories !
