Ok, I lied. I guess I still have a few golf plays in my after all despite a full slate of football games.

James Lepp 25-1 to Finish in the Top 10 @ Stan James
--While the outrageous outright prices are something to consider, I'll fall back on a bet that is much more likely to cash even though at the reduced odds I am not getting as much value. Lepp was NCAA champion, low stroke play medalist at the US Amateur and has played generally stellar golf all summer/spring. Now, playing in his home country's showcase tourney, I think he can make a good showing despite a decent field.

Good luck.

Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Justin Rose to win 40/1 e.w. @ SkyBet, BetInternet, Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
He could have easily finished in the top-5 last week for the second event in a row and so make it five top-25 finishes in a row on the PGA Tour as well. Putting aside his three-putt and the consequent lack of concentration on the next hole that ended his chances, his form is good and it should be much better rewarded against this much weaker field. His closing 63 in this event last year remains his lowest-ever score on the PGA Tour and it should provide him with further optimism as returns to Canada.

Pat Perez to win 66/1 e.w. available generally
With finishes of 5th, 6th and 20th against some very strong fields in his last three PGA Tour starts, Perez is also a player in form. He is also a player who plays well in Canada, having spent a year on the Canadian Tour in 1999, before graduating to the Nationwide Tour where played once in Canada and finished 3rd in the 2001 Canadian PGA Championship, and then graduating to the PGA Tour in 2002 and three appearances in this event since then, he has finished 12th, 32nd and 14th. With the added advantage of very small greens at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, this should be a strong week for Perez who is one of the best scramblers on Tour.

Brandt Jobe to finish in the top-five 20/1 @ GolfingGods
Large odds for a player who has finished 2nd and 8th in his last two PGA Tour starts and both of those were against much stronger fields. He climbed the leaderboard after every round last week and so has momentum as well as form and there is certainly value in a place-only market with Jobe. He was 100/1 to win, but he has struggled to win in his two golden opportunities this year. He hit his approach shot badly into the water in the first hole of the playoff for the BellSouth Classic, but it was much worse at the International. He had opened up a nine-point lead early in the final round, but recorded four bogeys, one double and only one birdie thereafter to finish one point behind Retief Goosen. He is clearly a player to back place-only, but at least he has been contending and particularly of late.

Also spotted Lepp and took the 600/1 Sportingbet small, also going for these locals:
s jones@501 sportingbet - twice former winner here- recently not in top form, but good pro-am !
d morland @401 sportingbet - excellent pro-am score,T7th driving accuracy on nationwide tour, good form with a recent 5th place in cleveland two weeks ago.
r scott@501 sportingbet - http://www.pgatour.com/story/8754925

Wow those odds are juicy WR especially on someone ranking in top 15 all around catagory past 3 months--had a little unofficial taste myself--good find.

FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -4.50pts

Rose 48th
Perez 65th
Jobe 48th

Poor result. Jobe and Rose had looked good after one and two rounds respectively, but this was a course on which it was very easy to lose a lot of shots very quickly. Neither recovered once the slide began.
