Absolutely loved heading to Belmont Park for ALMOST every year in the past with the objective of beating the favorite in the Belmont Stakes. Didn't work out too well in '73 (?) when I dutched 3 hosses to beat Secretariat only to watch that steamroller flatten out ALL the bastages by 30+ lengths. Worked out stupendously 16+ yrs. ago watching Sarava provide me with the greatest Win ticket I EVER cashed and I've cashed a poo-poo load of them too. Hmmm threw away more than a poo poo load of losing ones over the years as well.

After studying today's Belmont, I'm thinking it may well be 1973 all over again. :(

BUT, the thrill of cashing and beating an odds-on (even moola?) potential Triple Crown winnah, is just too tempting.

The N.Y. colony may not take kindly to a Cal. invader going home with the Crown due to a victory at "their" wace twack. Surely, Smith is gonna be told to gun that "baby" right out of the gate. We need at least one or, better yet, two kamikaze jocks to soften up Justify so a fit and ready closer can nail the bastage at the wire. AND..... Justify's post position today falls right in place with their gameplan. BIG problem is that Justy is capable of outrunning them early and it looks like he can close as well as any of the closers late even with a low tank of gas in the homestretch. Still - we're talking hoss wacin here...

I'll be doing something with two of the contenders today:
No. 8 Vino Rosso and no. 9 Noble Indy.
How cum?

I got them figured out as the kind Of closers needed too perform our miracle.
In N.Y. - the jock/trainer combo is TOP NOTCH on each fosho.
Look at their performances on their last race, sloppy track vs. their previous outings on fast wace twacks. Like day and night. Make that NIGHT and DAY.
Look at EACH ONE's consistency in it's Graded Stake waces on fast twacks. I think Belmont will have a fast track today; if not, a GOOD track at worst.
BOTH of them have been working out VERY well too.

Be carefull though... gotta go back to Drosselmeyer for my last Belmont Stakes winnah.
