I'm probably the only person in the world that thinks this, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Bungals went on a little ATS run. I see some similarities between this team and last year's Redskins. I can clearly remember how horrible Washington looked early last season; every bit as terrible as Cincy has been this season. Both offenses have a high quality RB, and the defenses are above average; ok Cincy hasn't played great D so far but their offense, special teams, and mental mistakes have repeatedly put them against the wall and they have the potential to be better. Getting almost a TD at home from a team with numerous defensive breakdowns and who is relying on Tommy Maddox to save the day looks very tempting. The covering loss last week was a sign of improvement and Pitt is on their 2nd road game in 2 weeks.

Plus if my memory is correct the bungles seem to have a
history of sneaking up on Pitt........:)

The best thing about football is the way the teams change during the season. Get in early on the change and you could make some nice money. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a playoff team. But there's no reason they can't be competitive; and they did beat this Steeler team last year, and supposedly NE and Oak saw the blueprint Cincy used to beat them and used it themselves. I'm not sure what to make of Pitt; I was on their bandwagon last year but they look like a 6-10 maybe 7-9 team right now. Should a below .500 team be laying a TD to a divisional foe on the road? I don't think so.

A couple of ATS stats;

Pitt. - 70-3-1 in its last 74 road wins.
Cinn. - 4-24 in its last 28 home losses.

I still am liking the Bengals so far this week.

valuist, that's where i agree with you they should be able to be competetive and i just don't think pitt should be laying a td on the road in a div game with maddox at the helm. he hasn't been working with the team all year, i've watched him play and he hasn't been very impressive, not to mention the fact that pitt has been giving up 4.7 yds per rush...i love taking home div dog's against a team having trouble stopping the run, and oh look dillon is the rb. i know cinc can't score but i like this play

(btw i liked them alot 2 weeks ago against tb, oops they got blown out :) )

Casper, I think by the end of this season you will see that TB and
Pitt are WORLDS APART........I would'nt be a bit suprised to see
TB and OAK in the SB.....and that would have one hell of a story-
line......

Steele had Cincy's D rated 9th best in the league coming into this year and Wash's D as 10th so I would beg to differ. As for hype, you're probably right. They are more hyped. But they gave up 112 pts in their first 3 games last year so it took a while for their defense to come around, and they also had much more of a ball control offense last year, which helped keep the D off the field.

One thing to consider in this game is the homefield advantage factor. As far as the Bengals in this game they really have no homefield advantage. Kitna referred to the fact that they had to use the silent count last year at home against the Steelers. The expected crowd at this game is expected to be primarily Steelers fans. Majority of season ticket holders sell the tickets to this game for the fact that this game and the Browns game are the only games they can make money on their tickets. I may be wrong, but this could mirror the Tamba Bay game from a few weeks ago. Steelers will be looking for revenge from last years stunning loss.

I agree Wolftaz - beware of the Steelers this week!

This is a huge game for them. It's a divsional game where they will be playing in front of alot of Steeler fans. They have held leads this year for a total of 3.5 minutes which makes me believe that both ends of the ball will come out strong vs. the bungles. Cowher is steamed about how slowly his team has started this season where they have to play from behind every week. The steelers will take the lead early, and the d will hold it.

Steelers by double digits..........

I remember reading something a couple years back in a local betting paper. Don't know if it still holds up today or not...but....

It said if you bet every 0-4 team in every game for the rest of the season, you would have made money for the prior 10 years or whatever it was. Combination everyone thinks they're crap / the line gets pretty favorable towards them...and the theory that a team can only be so bad before it inevitably must improve. (ie. impossible to get any worse LOL).

Anyways, I've kept it in mind, but never had the balls to try this scary strategy, and never tracked it.

So I guess a lot of bets on Cinci, Minny and St Lou are in order for the rest of the season. :)

Oh but hold on a minute fella's
Kitna's re-newed chance.....after going 6-10, which I might add is the best record the Bungles have posted in a FEW years. Like him or hate him, his confidence is something to be respected. He really believes in himself and his team! Take a look at the two team's off. and def. stats.......Very similar teams here Gents. Cincy's gonna beat somebody and Pit is usually one of the casualties!!!!

Kitna's renewed chance is because the Bengals have a stable of retread QB's that no decent organization would want. The only thing that Kitna brings to the table is an oppurtunity for the other team to get a few cheap turnovers. The Bengals had one decent half against a poor Indy defense. This does not translate into success against the Steelers defense no matter what the stats say and no matter how bad the Steelers defense has played in the past few games. Cowher is a proven coach, where Lebeau is a puppet coach with no discipline, and this will show on Sunday. Maddux will make the Bengals look like one of the old XFL teams he faced. Some people look for teams to turn a corner, but the only thing the Bengals do is run right into a brick wall. This is a truly bad team that starts at the top and ends with Peter Warrick's whining. The Steelers will not forget last year and the Bengals are the medicine the Steelers need to get their confidence back.
